[QUOTE="VampiraJen"]then play ff7 which is the holy grail of rpg'sDeyee
False.
How can you say that? No matter how bad the graphics are on FFVII, it will always be the best game in Final Fantasy. It had everything a game needed! Persons, story, environment etc .. That game is perfect!
But since many people would call that game bad now because of the graphics, I would encourage you to play FFX or FFXII. Both those games are superb. They follow the heritage of Final Fantasy. They give you an excellent gaming experience.
i suggest to start with ff10 then to the old ones
but seriously, u r willing to buy a ps3, which cost alot, just for final fantasy and u have an xbox?
sheeesh.............
I like FF9 very much, you have 4 characters the leveling system is simple and lets you some liberty in choosing the skills/powers, the cinematics are incredible and heartfelt byt of course it's a PS1 game ... ; FF10 has some good points but the levelling system is the worst ever, but if you have a guide it can be good (I totally screwed Khimari and Rikku)TheTenth10
u cheater using a strategy guide just to go thru the game and spending ur money on a worthless book that tells u what to find...... u r not a gamer... ur a NOOB!!

Easily, Most people, not saying all, but MOST that say that FF VII is the holy grail....started playing FF with FF VII as their first, like my wife. She thinks it's the greatest.
I started with FF, that's Final Fantasy...as in the first one. And FF VI is LEAGUES ahead of VII.
Final Fantasy X is probably the best place to start.
If you really want to start off right you should check out FF VI or VII, which are disputed as the best of the series, but many people consider X up there as well. I found X boring compared to the earlier entries in the series, but it's a good game to introduce you to Final Fantasy.

can't disagree with you there. it was the first ff and rpg i played and it totally changed the way i think about games. i also loved following the story and fell in love with the characters. thinking it's the best game ever probably IS sentimentality, but it is very rare indeed for a game to have such a powerful affects on you and i will always cherish it for that.
FF7 is amazing and I wish the new FFs held to some of those old standards, but the fact that it became overhyped spinoff city turned me off. If your talking about the most polished and refined FF I would have to go with eitherIV or VI but most likely VI. As for wich is your fav its all a matter of opinion but for the most part people tend to like the one they started with the most.
For the TC Id say start with X. You get most of the best FF has to offer without having to go retro. If you find yourself enjoying X you might want to go check out 4, 6, and 7.
XII has great gameplay, a huge world and the most boring story of all time.
You can start with any of them but if i was advising one of my friends i would say FFVI and then work your way up cuz they are all great games and each one is different. But i think FFVI is still better than them all, then FFVIII next.
if you are new then you may want to go with t he most recent, ff12 which i think is a cracking good game. then play ff7 which is the holy grail of rpg'sVampiraJen
Uuh last time i checked that title was reserved for Xenogears.

Just search for it on yahoo/google. The game was also made from Square, its not very well known. Xenogears is DEFINATELY worth a look. It almost didnt come to the states because of the heavy religious themes.

Actually, I disagree with the statement that XII's gameplay was so good. The AI system severely reduced the interactivity of the game, and I found the combat somewhat tedious. I hope that FF XIII doesn't make the game semi-automatic like XII was, and instead mked it more of a game than a movie.
