Old HDD in new PS3 help!

Im trying too get my 60GB HDD to work in my slim but I need to get it updated. I put the harddrive in my slim, put a usb stick with 3.56 data and did what it told me, but it still won't work. Any help would be appreciated

why the hell would you put your 60gb HDD in your slim that came with double or more space? The second you put the HDD in it automatically will format and erase everything anyway

I want my old DLC I wouldn't leave it in there permanently. I used to gameshare with a guy and I want his account info again too get the DLC. Unfortunately he no longer has a PS3 so I cant just ask him
