So I don't know if you've heard about this or not, but I just watched IGN's video review of the game and they said that the game is only about 6 hours long! WTF!!! I was excited for this game, and still am because the presentation looks awesome, but the length of the game is horrible. Might have to be a rent for me now because full price for that amount of gameplay is robbery. What do you guys think?

I don't get why people are so bothered if a game is "X hours long"...

It dosen't mean you are only going to play the game for a total of that length of time; you may take longer and may play the game again and again.

It's not a big deal really.

One of my favourite game of all time, ICO is only 4 hours long (first time) and 1 hours long (for a second run). Yet, I still like it and still play it. So, as long as the game-play is fantastic, I don't see why you can't enjoy a short game. Well, that's just me though. :P

I'll wait till other reviews come. So far HS has gotten mostly 9 ith very few average to low scores. PSM I think gave it a low score but PSM 3 gave it a high score. Edge gave it a low score but they also gave gears (and I think bioshock) an 8. Also the guy on IGN US who reviewed it (Chris) also reviewed Godhand and gave it a 3 while almost every other game site gave it somewhere between a 6 and a 8.

So, what you are saying is that it's 6 hours long for everyone? Hmmm. Fishy. What I heard it that it's around 7-10 hours long for most people. HS is a 7-10 hour game. Ninja gaiden sigma is a 6-10 hour game. GOW is a 8-10 hour game, GOW 2 is a 14 hour game, Gears is a 8-12 hours game.

I like what Thomas-Crown said about Ico. I rented that gamewhen it came out and I couldn't believe it was over quick. But I played on for hours wanting to see more and more of it and now I wish I could find that game. Prince of Persia took me 8 hours to complete but my friend took double that to complete. MGS could take less than 2 hours if you speed by it, or 20+ if played correctly. It all depends on the person playing. Just play it the way it was meant to be played and it could last longer then 6 hours.

Have you ever played a game called, Metal Gear Solid? I mean ANY one of them!! ... and WITHOUT watching the cinematics? Those games are soo short, yet considered one of the best series of all time by many gamers!! The quality through out is excellent, as I expect shall be the case for Heavenly Sword. Do not fret my friend.

Blue-ray can hold 50gigs. Heavenly sword uses about 50gigs, Blue-ray is needed. Epic games like heavenly sword are only possible with blue-ray. Mass Effect about 60 hours gameplay one dvd9.

I personally hate buying games under 10 hours, unless it has amazing replay value. I mostly play online games and rpg's, so that is why lol. I like to have a long, engaging story. I don't want to buy a game and beat it the day i buy it. For the length of time spent on making some of these games they could fit a lot more than 6 hours of gameplay in it. I'll buy games that short when they are in the bargain bin or I will rent them, but they are not worth 60 bucks.

first of, it can be as long as you want it to be, second, there were also these other games which were similar to HS and withan approximately same completion time frame, what were they called?... oh yeah GOW and DMC.

...

Lol it got 7.0 when the avg. score it like 8.2 ...

Lasting Appeal got a 5.0 - why? Becuase apart from additional combo's playing the game only unlocks stuff like video's and cool stuff like that which you can find out about on the net ...

Ohh and anyone find it ironic that he claims the combat system gets repetive after a while since you are fighting enemies ALL the time -- and then he complains it only takes 6 hours to play through the game once ... imho the game looks preety good .... and IGN got it wrong ...

Lets hope GS does a decent review and identifys the fact that IF YOU LIKE thE GAMEPLAY THEN THE GAME HAS LASTING APPEAL ... Gameplay made me play through DMC3 6 times ... and i occastionally play DMC3 still when i feel like it ... therefore lasting appeal should focus on weather the rest of the game is solid and weather its easy to simply play again ...

You havn't played Shadow of the Colossus??? You NEED to get that game. It's a prequel to ICO isn't it? Come to think of it, Shadow of the Colossus isn't that long a game. But it's an epic and I won't take it out of my collection. I'm guessing Heavenly Sword will be the same.

Walmart.com?

Amazon...which I prefer. You can get it used or new at Amazon.com.:)

Hope that helps ya. This game is deeply underrated by Gamespot. And don't even let me get started on one of the best soundtracks in gaming history!

I can guarantee that the same people who have no problem with the length will be the same people that will complain about the game being short. Although I don't like a game that's less than 8 hours, I don't notice it since I never play games for a long period of time.

I can get through any MGS in about 5 hours but I will have skipped everything and just run thorugh as quick as possible, God of War 1&2 i can get through in about 6 hours 7 if i forget how to do something, but thats only if i skip secrets which i don't like doing. Even if Heavenly sword is 6 hours long I'll still play the crap out of it just to unlock everything (combos movies etc).

I'll just rent it. The story for the game seems really interesting. The only complaint I have was the combat system. The game could easily be good after I master the combatand kick some a$$ though.

agree..nothing really can compare to ICO though..it's one of a kind. Heavenly Sword is just road kill...they managed to botch one of the PS3's most wanted stellar titles!

hate to resurrect a dead topic, but i have to say this guy got it right.

I've become disillusioned with video games as of late and would rather play a short game that's always fresh than do the same old moves and beat a dead horse (even multiplayer doesn't do much for me anymore).

/beat all the MGS games in about 8 hours each of the first try btw.

//shadow of the colossus is great

//still waiting for a decent ps3 game to come out :(

I am sure that you can bump the difficulty to make it last longer in your first playthrough, like in God of War2, that thing lasted for months and kicked my ass several houndred times, awsome game though. Thats why I allways play games in hard mode.
