Wow, i have owned a sega gensis, playstation, PS2, Gamecube, Wii, 360, and now i own a PS3

on thrusday i bought my ps3 along with a used ps2 and the MGS collection and DMC4.

I just now beat MGS after 14 hours lol.

Wow what a game, through the controls were frustrating for me, and the game out right just plain hard at times.(I died 64 times according to my records), this game was truely amazeing and is one of my fave PS1 games of all time and is imo the best game i have played story wise in a long time.

I just dont know why i didnt play it when it first came out, nost likey due to I have 2 brothers and before ps2 we only played multiplayer games or sonic only. But dear god the story is amazeing and i cant wait to pop in MGS2.

I wil say it again I was stupid to not play this game until now, and I agree that this series so far from what i played is freaking awesome.

lol please dont flame me for my playtime of 14 hours, i understand some if not most can beat it in under 4, but this was my first stealth game i have ever played.

I also got the collection and am at the part right now where you're fighting the helicopter, but I can't beat it. This game is awesome, # 2 is sweet also. I have yet to play 3 at all.

my main console for the past year was the wii, so it was easy for me not only cause the wii has few games taht take it to its limints graphically but i also played virtual console games. i admit it was jarring at first but the story music , voice acting and cinematic experince kept me hooked.

i had a hard time with the hellicopter too because i started the fight with no rations and half hp. because the gun turrents before the fight hurt me badly(no chaf gernades, so i had to run it lol) but after about 15 trys i got it down to a science where i wouldnt get hit by the Hind D.

unfortunaltey, i havent played the first MGS. But i did play MGS2, it was an awesome game with twists and surprises. But i found MGS3 the best, even though its a prequel its story was unbelievable engaging and the end......OH MY GOD. The ending was phenomenal, i almost cried. The series is epic, and the fourth installment will certainly not dissapoint.

It's definitely a great game. I played it again about a month ago, and I was still impressed. I'm playing them all again before MGS4. I'm on MGS3 now.

But you always had to equipt them for it to work and press (I think) R3 every time to send out a signal. Oh, and there was that battery life factor :P

Whatever, it still adds to the difficulty a little bit, on top of healing, stanima, smarter AI, etc.

The only thing which annoyed me was that I wish there was an option to "heal all" as long as you had all of the healing materials. I kept getting hit by the Fear's crossbow, whereupon I had to take out the bolt, heal it, and cure the poison inside of it, which broke up the action quite a bit. It would have been convenient for a "Heal All" option :?

Whatever, I'm glad that Hideo actually did some research to see the technology limitations instead of giving Snake a nano-machine radar and saying, "Uh.... this is a top secret radar which only the government knows about", as an excuse to give Snake a bunch of recycled items. Hooray for Hideo Kojima! :D

Oh yeah I love the whole stamina factor. I've stocked up on ramen and calorie mates.

Yeah but if it just had a heal all option then why not have auto heal. I don't know I liked it sort of learning how to take care of that **** if it ever (ever) happened. Plus you get a little video. Stupid leeches.:P

Yeah and I love his little communication box thing.

I'm wondering if that ladder was actually a load time in disguise. I know God of War made you walk across the biggest bridge I've ever seen in gaming because it was actually laoding in disguise for the other half of the game.

The great thing about the MGS series for me is that they are all equally good. They all have such great stories, and all three stories are different, yet obviously intertwined. What I mean is, MGS1 is what really gets you into the storyline of Solid Snake, and that alone makes the whole game amazing. MGS2 is so complex, but when you put it all together it is very thought provoking. MGS3 isn't quite as complex as 2, but finding out how stuff relates to the future (MGS1/2) and such awesome characters (the entire Cobra squad and Ocelot are definitely the best cast of villains out of the three games).

Anyway, MGS4 is the first game I have ever preordered, and I didn't get it for the MGO beta, so that should state how excited I am for the game.

Vyse_Legends

Oh my goodness, I loved the stanima thing, especially when escorting EVA.

I would just feed her Russian Rations and hear her reply of "UGH! TASTES LIKE CRAP"

Gee thanks for informing me what I have to do...further into the game.:P

WHA?! I thought you finished it, assuming from your great knowledge of it.

Well, now you have something to look forward to?

I dare you to not look forward to that

Yeah great knowledge right.:P I just beat The End and then climbed up the ladder with the music accompaniment.:) Oh indeed I am looking forward to that.:P

Trust me, it will be worth it;) You should also call paramedic every chance you get and Sigint everytime you have different camos or weapons equipped. Best conversations in the entire game are Sigint's and Paramedic's ramblings:lol:

I always do.:P

And then the one about James Bond with the Major.

The conversation when you first get an European Rabbit is hilarious. "...But how do those caecal feces taste?"

Or the Box conversation.

"I just had to get inside it." and "When I'm in here I feel a sense of inner peace.".

I can do it for some classic rpg's like xenosaga or ff7.

That's Xenogears.

Yeah. I remember a radio podcast I heard once. It was an interview with Dacid Hayter about X-men 2 (IIRC) he was talking about the movie (with his normal voice) and then he was asked to do Snake's voice.

So, like I said, he was talking with his normal voice one second and the other it was like someone else (Snake) was talking. I was like w00t!!!

Better late than never. EVERYONE should give MGS a shot if they haven't already. It's definitely not for everyone, but they should at least play them for a few hours so they won't miss out on this great series if they develop an interest.
