everything is fine actually , exept for the blue screw which the hole in it is surrounded so right now not a single screwdriver will fit it

I did the exact same to mine. I then started carving a new hole into it with a knife  I gave up after making little-to-no progress though.

Don't give up m8. My friend did the same and even though he gave up using pliers I managed to get it undone. I found the blue screw was the easiest it was the other 4 that gave me a bit of bother but taking it slow and steady is always the key. Let us know how you get on.

This is why I bought 3 different types of #0 Phillips head screwdrivers before I did the swap. Not all screwdrivers are made to the same exacting specifications and if you use an old screwdriver, the same one you use to chop ice out of the freezer or pry open your dad's liquor cabinet, you'll likely strip the screw. Only one of the #0s I bought fit really well but that one with the good fit made the swap a breeze.

What you can do now is make sure the console is cool before you try to remove the screw. You can get a set of screw outs, which may help. The dremel is a good option. You can dab a little of WD40 or Breakfree (from a Q-tip) on the screw. Or you can just get a drill bit and drill it out (but get some canned air to make sure you don't leave shavings in the PS3.

I heard you can call 1-800-345-SONY and request replacement screws as well as the hard drive tray. Worth a shot.

Yes, it's called Sony America, but it's North America so Canada should be fine. The Sony Playstation Canada website redirects support to the US site too so, I bet that's the number.

Superglue the tip of the screwdriver (or anything else long and easy to twist). Wait for it to dry on well, then twist the screwdriver. You'll obliterate the screw and screwdriver but it will get the screw out.Christopper
that might just work... i might try it if i do decide to upgrade my hdd soon. i'm gradually filling this one with films.

the other screws aren't much better, though the blue screw is the worst. I definitely feel TC's pain. Not only are the screws very tight, but they're also insanely soft. Worst still, if you get it out and want to get it back in, know that the blue screw at least is a "Custom screw." Ugh. Honestly, my uncle is a contractor type guy and i just ended up asking him to help me out.

Use a pair pliers! Preferablly vice grips! They have a screw at the end of the handle to tighten the grip. The best things since sliced bread!

Needle-nosed pliers can do anything. Take out stripped screws, fix bikes, assemble robots, use as a weapon, deliver babies. ANYTHING.
