That must have made you feel even worst. Waiting a long time for this game and when you finally start playing it, your PS3 dies...:( That sucks big time. I'm hopefully getting R2 today. I hope i don't have the same bad luck.:(

Sorry to hear that.

Try to force eject the disc. Hold down eject button for more than 10 sec. That should work.

Ok, this is starting to freak me out a bit. I've had my 60GB since launch and so far no problems at all. But I can't help to think...what if mine gets that YLOD? What would happen if I changed the hard drive? Do they still fix it if you've upgraded the hard drive? azzezino

yes changing the HDD does not expire your warrenty. also considering the YLOD is some kind of HDD failure, it may be a good idea to change your HDD. my bro's sendind me a 180 gig for free cause he upgraded to 400 or something. and he only had the 180 for about 2 months. so its brand new. sweet deal for me

But if YLOD is HDD problem and after it happened, should changing HDD be possible solution for the problem. Firmware should be intact cause it is stored on Flash memory chip inside PS3

Too bad.

I think that YLOD comes when something goes wrong with firmware and/or Flash memory chip. Maybe startup files got corrupted/deleted or something.

Possible fix by Sony could be to erase firmware from the chip and just put another firmware

Here is the chip: LINK

Damn I feel your pain bud, I have had a quick go on R2 and it's seriously tasty. However I've got my fingers crossed that mine lasts for as long as my first PS2 did (around 6 to 7 years) the only thing which gave up on me was my first Six axis pad.

What You Do Is Turn It off from the back.. now while your turning it on hold the eject button and turn it on from the back.

OMG just got YLOD!!

Guess what f****** game I was playing. Resistance 2. 60Gb UK launch model also.

First time I had put the R2 disk in, played one onlne match and started the campaign, got to the end of the first (training) mission and loading the cutscene it just crashed suddenly.

Every time I switch it on now I get the 3 beeps and green light followed by yellow.

The fan appears to be working, the disk wont eject though which sucks because it is the second tie I tried playing R2. Ordered it off play.com and it never came!

Just signed up for continuous play protection so hopefully I will be able to get a 'new one'. Think I will go for an 80Gb model.

Good thing I just bought a 360 elite so I'm not overly devastated about the lack of gaming I will be doing on my Christmas leave from work!

I am too. When i got the YLOD, Sony never sent my disc back, and i got it 6 months ago on MGS4's launch day (mgs4 disc got stuck). So i had to rent the game out to finish it. Good luck on getting it back, i'm just doubtful as i didn't get mine:cry:

I think the most annoying thing is that all my months of saved data is now lost.

Does anybody know if there is a way to transfer the hd to another ps3 system? I know it doesn't work with a PC but would the saved data be accessible so I could at least back up the saved games?

if you have the ps3 hardrive with the saved data then you can just put it in your new ps3 and it will work
