i used to like TH games but they went to crap with me. Skate was fricken amazing. So real and fun. Ive played the demo a bunch of times already and im really considering buying it.
i dunno i liked it it wasn't bad and it is ALOT more realistic i'll admit but i found the manualing to be a little weird and call me crazy but i love the outrageous 10 million point combos jumping off hobos and over bridges of TH haha I got the new TH preordered less realistic but more fun imho
I thought the demo was ok. It;s definetely an innovation in control scheme over Tony Hawk, although having only played tony hawk before this, the control scheme was a little hard to get used to. //it was good, but not an amazing tony hawk killer I thought it would be.
its so hard to get used to its hard when you need to get up speed with oneed to use the right stick to jump, how many fingers do they think i have??d_ano
Don't think you should be picking up speed when you are going to do a jump, you should already have enough speed by then. Anyways yes the control scheme is a bit different, and you are correct its hard to get used to it.
skate is just awesome...they got the everything in it, style, tricks, realism, graphics..its just awesome....it took EA once to make a good game like skate and neversoft is on the 9th and they all just S**K....i used to be a fan of tony hawks but sine thug 2 am not and skate is like jsut perfect.......also is it possible to get of the skateboard in skate? if not thats the only disadvantage
I couldnt do any flip tricks besides shove its, kickflips, heelflips and varials of those. Any way to do 360flips and whatnot? fingerflips? is there other tricks in the full game? Im not really sure how you can do these.
I thought it was great, I couldn't even finish the 10 minutes TH demo, same old sh!t, bored the hell out of me...I've used up the skate time limit several times now. I didn't find the controls to bad, took about 10-15 minutes to figure it out then I was good to go. It's just too bad that like other EA games for the PS3 the Xbox version looks better, although the PS3 controller works better for this type of game IMO.

Just keep playing around with the controls, you can do flips and all that stuff...you have two thumbsticks that you can use...
im dissapointed in the ps3 demo because it doesnt look as good as the xbox 360 version demo and the framerates choppy. im sad :(
but overall it is still great and for some reason on the ps3 i could pull off my 360 flips and varials a lot easier

the framerate does dip once or twice in the demo (for me when going from the 'front' of the area to the 'back' of the area), but the graphics are generally slightly better than the xbox version (don't believe the reviews), though no one in their right mind would recognize that while playing, the difference is so slight. as far as comparing it to tony hawk, 'skate' is like the second coming of christ. i really loved the old tony hawk games (1, 2, and 3) but they've just become really silly, and the controls leave ALOT to be desired. even before playing the skate demo, i played the thpg demo, and found it to just be annoying to control and boring to play. the gameplay in skate is actually fun and challenging, and it will be the first skateboarding game i've purchased in about 6 years.
I think if you've ever been into real skateboarding you'll definitely be into Skate. People that never skated might not see why this is far better than a TH game, they might be inclined to think its too bland.

I consider these type of games boring TH but when i played the demo i was like damn its like you are really skating noBS railing on power lines. Now I am thinking this might be the first skateboard game for me. and why do you have to bash the Ps3. This game is on both systems and like the game, both systems are great.
I loved the demo. As an actual skater I can appreciate the physics and realism this game offers. It is a lot harder than Tony Hawk games but you get used to it after a while. Just doing simple grinds feels rewarding.
2 main differences of TH and skate.....TH is all about getting high scores and do all this combos like non stop...and skate is about style and just cruise around...do a rail 5050 then go flip manual flip out....go skate some bowls like its a really smooth game like real skateboarding.....

Graphics are worse, it's much jaggier. The actual effects are the same, textures all that, but I noticed alot more aliasing in the PS3 demo.
