Kids start buying a PS3!!! I mean, i was in the store the other day, and i see a kid with his mum pre ordering a ps3 (im form the uk btw, and the kid was around 10 years of age). Dont get me wrong, i have nothing against that, if i was a kid hell i would have bought every damn console. Its just that i dont associate a powerful games console for a kid, i mean for example, blu ray, i bet the kid doesnt even know what the hell it does or is which really equals to money wasted!!I just dont like it when things get placed in the wrong hands thats all!!Im mainly complaining to sony for not creating a ps3 without the wireless function or blu ray for instance, which would one save money and two, stop kids from buying useless features!!!Well be glad he wasn't buying a Wii or 360.

You know he could be 10 and be a true gamer. You dont know who he is or how he views games. I mean I was a true gamer when I was like 3 years old. Now im 19. Also If this kid really didint know nothing then wouldint he have a 360 already. Since the stores would make him buy that insted of a ps3.

And actually it's the mother who uses her kid as a cover for buying a PS3 so she can play future SingStar and Buzz games. ;) My brother and I do the same with our cousins every time there's an animated or Harry Potter movie released.

haha my friend can't stand younger kids on XBL when playing gears of war...
are most psn users older, like in their teens???

Unless the system starts selling better developers will lean towards M$ even more, and Wii's sucess ain't helping your cause either. If I were you I wouldn't care who's buying the system be it terrorists to load into nuclear warheads or spoiled rich kids with hot rich mom's ( don't mind me, I've got a thing for hot rich mom's), the more systems that sell the more likely PS3 will land decent exclusives or at least ports of multiplatform titles. Rich kids and terrorists FTW!

It doesn't really matter IMO. You don't need to appreciate what goes on inside the console if you appreciate what comes out of it.ihatebugers
I guess that's true to a certain extent but even so, he probably knows how to play games on it, and if he likes the games that's all that matters.jlabadie88
I honestly don't care, as long as we try and win the fight together.coldkill19
who cares what they do, they probably think the same thing of you when they see you buying a console.TheYellowYeti
Yes, yes, yes, and yes! Honestly, every kid derserves to have a console to play with. You're forgetting one thing about "video gaming," and that is ppl have fun with them. If I were buying a console a long time ago, I would be buying it for its games...when my parents bought me the N64 when I was 6 or 7 (back in 1996 or 1997, respectively), I bought it for Super Mario 64 a lone, and I had a great time with teh conole.
Of course, you're going with teh idea "technology has increased, the PS3 is too complicated for even a ten year old!" I would have to agree with teh first part of that statement, but disagree with the 2nd part. If he just plugs in a composite cable into his own SDTV, he'll still have fun with the PS3. And, as long as he finds a game he actually likes in teh console, he'll have fun. And that's all that matters, right?

Ahh, who cares if the kids are getting PS3s. We live in a world where such devises are accessible to everyone and when a child gets a present like this from his/her parent is absolutely fine, even if the kid (nor the parent in most cases) know the full capacity and use of a sophisticated system like the PS3. And plus you said if you were 10 you would've got the system yourself, and probably at that age you wouldn't read too well (well I don't know the case in the UK but here in the good old US kids can't read for s***), have a well developed vocabulary, scientific/technological knowledge, nor be allowed to use the Internet at most times (assuming the level of your parenting would be decent, for argument sake), etc. In a scenario like that you most likely wouldn't know the extent of the PS3 either. So saying you would've got one yet when a kid gets it some thing's wrong, that's just plain hypocritical. At the end of the day the reason people buy the PS3 is for the games. If someone actually bought the system for the various functions other than gaming then that person shouldn't even have purchased one. The kid sees the system for what it truly stands for: games. Sony did a great job appealing to all the levels (and plus having functions like storage and blu-ray makes it easier for those kids to get the PS3, because the parents might find the system more intriguing.) I'm 21, i bought my PS3 with my own money that I earned working. I bought the 60gig system; yes i love all the functions and I am capable of using and i'm actually using all of them. But above all I use it for GAMES, probably just like that kid when he/she gets his/her pre-ordered PS3. The only way I'd get pissed at a kid getting a PS3 is if he/she would have got one when I was about to get one and he/she got the last one in the store... then i'd probably be saying "damn kid what the hell are you getting a PS3 for you don't even know how to use it properly...:)"
I hate it when grown men buy game consoles. Shouldn't they be mature and working.bobbyD213
Consoles are not just for kids anymore:Â Fact. I'm 21 years old and still play videogames very often, and sometimes I play them non-stop like a 15 year old asian kid (they love their videogames and arcades). We like what we like. My folks have no problem with me playing them because it's either play videogames or be on the street getting in trouble. I think it's a no brainer which they'd rather see.

Well, if you put it that way it's way better at home playing than going out and getting shot. I didn't mean to sound sarcastic, i'm 21 too, however, i like to keep a balance between personal gaming time and time with my pals (we saty out of trouble, trust me) so going out sometimes will not 100% guarantee you'll get you into trouble (i'm pretty sure u know that.)
But to what that arrogant, judgementeal kid bobby said: "I hate it when grown men buy game consoles. Shouldn't they be mature and working." it's true that some rather would play than work, but that's entirely their choice and if they are capable of spending their time doing what they like and not what everyone else, or at least judgementeal kids like you, expect them to do, then more power to them. I, for instance, am your worst nigthmare: a 21 year old with a job, a social life, a girl, and i loves video games, and definantely mature, at least mature enough not to make such childish and inconsiderate comments like you have. Lets see what you'll do when you start working and be "mature" (got a long way to go though) and lets say you'll still love games. If you'll, for agrument sake, say i'm too old for games and quit all together, fine that's completely your choice, but if you don't, please try to recall the comments you made today and really think about what you were saying.    Â

I see what you mean and of course having friends or people you hang out with (what I call people who are not your true friends because they wouldn't be there for you if you needed someone to talk to and in trouble). I have few friends because it's my choice and I know what comes with having a lot of people you hang out with. What happens is you'll be coo with then and shortly after....."Can I borrow you car? What....why? You're not coo " That's really what most people want; someone to use. I refuse to be treated like a Taxi or AAA.....it's bullcrap. I have few true friends and that's all I need/want. I learned a long time ago that there's a big difference between friends and people you hang out with or talk to. Friends you can count on....most the time.

I guess you just had bad experiences. I hate those people who want to be with you for what you have and not your friendship. I don't have a lot of true friends either, because it's very difficult to find people you can trully trust, that's a fact and no one should say otherwise. Most people are selfish that way. But i don't see why you're explaining this to me i just strated off saying to u it's possible to go out and be ok, it completely rests on what crowd you hang out with and how greatly you are affected by peer pressure. The real theme of what i was trying to say was how inconsiderate and immature that kid's commented was (I hope u liked that..)
im 13 and i got a ps3 but i know a lot about technology and pretty much everything, sports, music, academics, so im just smart, but i know some other kids that got a ps3 that are my age and i asked them if they got the hdmi cables or component or some blu ray movies they hav no idea what im talking about and one of them is using the av cables on his 37in 1080p hdtv lol and he doesnt even know that he needs to get component cables or hdmi cables for hd
