There is a lot to love about the PlayStation brand in my opinion. First off you will get the best 3D bluray player on the market. Sony is also constantly adding features such as MLB TV, Netflix, Pandora, Vudu, Hulu Plus, NFL, NHL, demos, PSN, video rental, Qirocity, Qore, etc. There is so much content on the PSN it will blow you away. I also have a 360 and the offering of entertainment on the PSN is a lot better in my opinion. What is best about all this content is you don't have to pay Sony beyond buying the console to use it. I for one think paying a Netflix monthly fee is more than enough and shouldn't have to pay more to watch it on a device I already paid for. Beyond great content you have access to tons of great games. Uncharted series, Ratchet and Clank, Heavy Rain, inFAMOUS series, Killzone series, Valkyria Chronicles, MGS4, Twisted Metal, StarHawk. The Last of Us, The Last Guardian, Resistance series, God of War games, Team Ico collection, and more. There are so many great games on this sytem. Another great thing is that the games come on blu ray discs. Now not every game needs them, but you get nice bonuses like AC1 for free with AC: Revelations, no 3 discs for a FF game, etc. There are too many fun PSN games to list here, but my favorites are Flower, echochrome, limbo, and pretty much all the zombie games. 3D games are also sick if you have a 3D TV and the Move is a bit underrated in my opinion. Killzone 3, Goldeneye, Little Big Planet, Dead Space Extraction, and House of the Dead Overkill are all amazing with the move. One last thing is that the PS3 supports more types of audio and video formats that any other console. You also have the ability to copy stuff to and from your PS3 hdd which other systems don't allow you to do. If you get that bundle I recommend getting the Uncharted dual back as well. All three games are great.nightshade869yeah, get it....

add another 25$ for an hdmi cable...>KBFloYdI have 3 extras, that cost 6 dollars each. I only use my 360 for exclusives too same with the ps3 if I bought it. There seems to be a lot of series. How will the vita interact with the PS3 when it comes out? I might get the vita and that would be cool if they worked together.

so what do you play skyrim, bioshock, call of duty, battlefield, assasins creed, batman arkum city, fallout , dragon age, oblivion, sonic generations on?

actually Mass Effect 2 is on PS3 and so will 3 so I don't think that counts anymore.

Yeah I really like my PC it's been a great one. Exclusives sound pretty good, I'll probably get it.As for me I would say get it. I got my PS3 in September and it has yet to disappoint me. The online play is just as good as 360, it gets many more exclusives, and the service is free. If you are going to multiplat I would check a gaming website and see what the game works better on because in some cases (like 2) the PS3 version is better. I know Final Fantasy will probably run better on the PS3 over 360 like it did last time if you are into that genre.
I ordered it, gets here Saturday (gotta love Amazon prime). I think it will be worth it. Cannot wait to get my hands on Uncharted 3 :)As for me I would say get it. I know one game Warrior's Lair is going to do it and I think MLB 12 The Show (Best sport game franchise on the market by the way 3 years running) will do it too.

Don't get me wrong I love my PS3 but I was in the same boat as you when I got my PS3 (Already owned a 360, Wii, and PC) If you want the exclusives then I guess its worth it but I've only played LBP, Infamous, Killzone 3,Uncharted 2, and Resistance 3... And I'd have to say these games aren't worth paying $300 bucks. And as for online I've not had any trouble finding games in Killzone 3.
meh, you have alot of gaming consoles, i can see you buying it and not giving it the love it deserves, unless their are ps3 exclusives you really really wanna play, i would advise against getting one.
I had a gift card so I had money to blow, if it has two good exclusives then it'll be worth it :P Heck I play my wii just for Majora's Mask. Once I get FF9 on the PS3 it will get plenty of lovin'.meh, you have alot of gaming consoles, i can see you buying it and not giving it the love it deserves, unless their are ps3 exclusives you really really wanna play, i would advise against getting one.

Strange question, I just opened it up it appears to only have rubber footpads on the bottom, can the PS3 slim not stand upright?achilles614Don't stand it upright without a vertical stand. It WILL fall over, and you will be left with one fancy doorstop, made by SONY. I suggest you visit gamestop, or bestbuy, and buy a "vertical stand" or something of the like. They cost anywhere from $8 to $14. I use one for my PS3, and in addition to making the console take up less space in my room, it also increases the surface area of the console that is in contact with the air. This means the console will cool off better. I would definitely recommend you get one. Don't stand the PS3 up by itself.

I know that the new Blazblue and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom will have cross platform play between and PS3. Wipeout 2048 has cross platform play with Wipeout HD on PS3. I know that the new game Dust 514 will most definitely have cross platform play between both systems.
You should not discard PS3 when it comes to PS3. Fighting games will play better on the system due to the D-pad. Some franchises will also have more of a following on PS3 as well. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will have more of a following on PlayStation. It is the same with Dark Souls. RPG's that take up a lot of space will be better on PS3 due to blu ray having more room. This has been shown with games like L.A. Noir, Dead Space 2, Final Fantasy 13, and Final Fantasy 13-2.
The only games that traditionally run worse on PS3 are titles that are primarily built for PC's and then ported to consoles. These include games like Elder Scrolls, Mafia, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Crysis, and so on. You already have a high end PC, so you do not need to worry about it. If you stick to games built for consoles, the multiplats should be fine. There are exceptions like Bayonetta, but most of the time games run the same.
You will not get disappointed with this amazing console. People in this thread pretty much summed it up on why you should get a PS3, so if I just say something, it will appear to be a repetition! :)
If you paid $25 for an HDMI cable, you big time got ripped off. I payer $4 for mine off newegg.com free shipping. And off the top of my head, you left out the Infamous series.add another 25$ for an hdmi cable...

I have a PS3 that I use basically to play exclusives and some PS1 classics, and watch blurays.
I use the 360 as my primary gaming console; I still say the PS3 is worth owning because it does offer things the XBOX doesn't.
Got the PS3 been playing Uncharted 3 and the Rayman game (got it at gamestop), the FF9 Psone classic is pretty awesome too. Having a lot of fun with it. Coming from a primarily PC gamer the graphics in Uncharted really surprised me...though the gameplay is kinda hold your handish, does it get any better? I'm about an hour in and it seems ALL I'm doing is running forward and then pressing X to climb over things.achilles614

decided i wanted the ps3 on that day..
i went to best buy to buy it...the cheapest hdmi they had was 25$...im sure im not the only one who has been ripped off with hdmi purchases.. ps3 should include an hdmi cable if its just 4 dollars imo..

i didnt mention infamous because it doesnt really appeal to me...but i might get it one day..

Graphically, it's not that great, but Naughty Dog really know how to design good looking levels. Having a wide range of colors really helps too.
The exclusive Downloadables and the regular Exclusive Blu-Ray Disc based games are worth it alone. The Playstation 3 has the most exclusive series this generation. All of the series and games people has states thus far is the reason to get Playstation 3. Plus the Blu-ray movie playback as a bonus. Since you have a Wii. PSmove also has its own exclusive move games as well.
There is no reason to be on the fence about Playstation 3 in 2012. Exclusive games is the PS3 strongest feature. Sorry Microsoft, Sorry Nintendo.

Seriously I just bought 2 10-ft HDMi cables on Amazon for $5.01 and free shipping last month. Anybody who pays more than $4 for an HDMi is.... just.... no.
first let me say i have all 3 conoles and play every single one of them frequently, so there wont be bias opinions from me (at least there shouldnt :P)
if you want exclusives only you wont be dissapointed since the ps3 has so many great ones
besides that i like how my ps3 is more accessible that my 360 for things like internet browsing (which i use for youtube, and mostly movies lol), customization of the menu to change the look, and using my USB drive to transfer data and stuff instantly. the controller are charged qucikly by plugging them into the system. the PS store is also great and there are some good free stuff, and of course great games to download.
you also shouldnt be dissapointed with the online gaming, especially since its free and you could play whenever you feel like it. the online honestly is almost the same as my 360's live so i actually tend to do abt more online on my ps3 instead of paying for live sometimes.
just make sure you leave the 3rd party games for your 360 since they tend to be somewhat better. so if you are willing to pay for a ps3, then go ahead and do it since i think its worth having for the exclusives i miss on the 360. hope that helped abit.
