I too am waiting to get the Vita, although my reasoning is due to the memory cards pricing and not the system itself. I really don't see a price drop in the near distant future for the system anytime soon, its reasonably priced. I also only find a few games that are out for the system at launch desirable beingLuminesand maybe hotshots golf, and the only games coming out in the future that interestme are Warriors lair, Gravity Rush, and FFX Remaster whenever that comes out. So I'm going to wait until third party companies come out with less expensive and larger data size memory cards and for a larger library of games, and by then the games that interested me at launch might have received a price reduction due to good sales numbers.
drought after march through the holidays because besides gravity rush and resistance I can't think of a single game that is set to release.layton2012Maybe wait until after March 9th. Sony is supposed to announce some games and announce release dates for some games. That may give you a better indication of the games coming out throughout the year.
This isn't new to the Vita but to any new hardware. First years games are sparse.
As for a price drop no one really knows what Sony will do. They can either ride out the first holiday at the $250 base price, or try and drop the price to increase sales during the holidays.
I imagined if they have a drop within the first year, they will do something similar to Nintendo and offer goodies to all early adopters.

Thanks for the help and I know droughts are the norm, and am leaning towards getting one, will LBP vitas release date be announced soon, because I am planning on getting Rayman when I first pick up the system then escape plan via Psn , and then I will definitely pick up LBP and gravity rush when they release.will LBP vitas release date be announced soonlayton2012Game should be coming out sometime in the summer. That might be one of the games Sony sets a solid date on at the Vita conference on the 9th.
I'm also going to buy a handheld but since I already own a PS3 I might get a 3DS for more game variety. Let's see how will the VITA's library evolve..

Oh sweet, I didn't know that LBP was coming out that early. Amazon has the date listed as Dec. 31, never knew they hadn't officially announced the date yet. I just hope amazon is wrong.
I am too on the fence about the vita. Well not so much on the fence- I know i'm going to get one, it's just a matter of when. I told myself that I wouldn't get one until there was literally nothing in my gaming library that I wanted to play. Or until little big planet comes out..lol
I would just base buying a vita off the games that are out for it. If there's any game that you feel like you NEED to play then get it. The only game I felt that way about was lumines, which I can wait to play later. I wouldn't really count on a price cut anytime soon.
