dont doit it wont change youre pings at all 10mb is good. i have 40mb down 4mb up i use to have 1mb download 5 years ago my pings are exactly the same as before. the only difference is i can run multiple machines at once now. my best friend has only 768kb down he gets pings of 60ms on warhawk.
by the way of course that person gonna tell you 2 upgrade. they want to raise youre bill so they can put it in there pocket.
I used to be on virgin until I found their speeds very slow. When I phoned and complained that I wasn't getting nowhere near what I paid for, they said "sorry, we've had loads of complaints about this and it is a common issue"! I was on 10mb package, and it was running at 9.9mb for about 2 years, then it started slacking, and on peak times it used to drop down to 1mb! (I dont download much) AND their capping system is a joke!!!... But yes, 10mb is good enoughdanboly
Is there some way i can actually see what my internet is running at?
I know they say 10mb, but like you say, its not really going to anywhere near that is it?
These kids and there internet speeds. I manage with 512kbs and high ping. Sure it's a bit laggy but it annoys me when someone whines because they only get a 100ms ping and has 2 MB internet speed.CyberAltair5
It wasn'ta whine mate, was simply asking a question before i bought a router.
Thats what these forums are for right??
Thanks for all your input guys.
I also have Virgin 10mpbs. I find it very good and i normally do get that speed. However, their capping is very anoying.
i wouldn't rely that much on speedtest.net's results, since they usually check your speed with a server close to your vicinity... the best way to do it (at least that's what i've found) for psn is to select "test internet connection" under the network settings in the xmb settings section, there is a speed test there as well, which tests your dl and ul speed to psn... :)
edit: the ps3 uses wireless g protocol, so in order to use your computer with n protocol adapter on the network you have, you must use your router in mixed mode (g and n protocol)... however if you have an apple airport base station with n protocol as your router, this model broadcasts ontwo separate radio wavelengths (both g and n) and it would be better than using a single broadcasting router in mixed mode...
