I do get 1080p in the PS3 menues but not in games, why is that. European PS3, american copies of Fall of Man and Heavenly Sword is what i've tested on since i got my PS3 today.

Anyone? I want to play in 1080p if possible. I have the Panasonic PX80.

Some games don't support 1080p. I know Call of Duty 4, Gran Turismo 5, and Wipeout HD do. I think Resistance and Heavenly Sword are only 720p.

Most games don't support 1080p. Some you have to disable 720p to use 1080p (ala uncharted).

RFOM doesn't support 1080p, not sure about HS.

If you have a Panasonic PX80U that is the 720 model. The PZ80U is the 1080 model. If you do have the 1080p model you have to play a game that is in 1080p. Resistance is not in 1080p and I can't recall if HS is or not. You have to find a game that states it is 1080p on the back of the game box.

Appreciate the answers and the PX80 does support 1080p. I checked on the back of the cases and these two titles are 720p only. Thanks for sorting this out for me.

the PS3 does have the largest 1080p list, but mainly on digital downloads. Some games say their 1080p, but theyre upscaled to it. Big time games tho, there are about half a dozen that use 1080p.

the reason you dont see more 1080p games is because its not like the PC where you can adjust your resolution. They go with the majority and that is 480i-1080i users. They also have to optimize the game a bit more, so you dont have major stuttering issues. Its a big jump to go from 13x7 to 19x10 for performance.

This is why PCs have a bad rep from people. They forget that people on PCs, majority play at higher resolutions. If we all played on at 13x7 a PC wouldnt need an upgrade for about 3 years. Look at people with 8800 series cards from 2.5years ago. They can max out Crysis Warhead, which is mroe optimzed and better looking than Crysis itself. crysis shows it was poorly optimized.

Ok, thanks. Can't wait to play it, 1080p or not.

Having some trouble creating a PSNetwork account, otherwise i'm happy with the PS3. have had an xbox 360 for a while and love it too.

Will have to create a thread regarding the Network thing. At the final stage i think it said that the network couldn't be accessed or something and it sent me right back to the first step of the sign-up process. I could update the console just fine which means i'm connected to the internet (via wireless).

I am not sure where you are getting your information about the px80. It is a 720p tv, not a 1080p. I sell tvs at circuit city, that is why I know this off the top of my head. You can check out the review of the tv over at cnet.com. They state the same thing that the px80u is a 720p model.

http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/panasonic-viera-th-42px80u/4505-6482_7-32887130.html?tag=mncol;lst

The above is the link to the 42 inch version, if you have the 50 it is the same tv, only at 50 inches.

It supports 1080p input just fine. Been playing my PX80 in 1080p on my 360 now for quite a while. No better proof then that. The fact that it's a 720p model is correct, i'm talking about upscaling here. It supports it and there's no visual difference between the full HD model and the PX80 whatsoever.

I should add that i have the EU model PX80E but i'm pretty sure the US model supports upscaling as well...?

unless your screen is larger than 50 inches you cant tell the difference in pixel rate anyway. besides most games are 720 to support the frame rate. and its better that way.

It's about time to jump to a lot more 1080p I think.
