So I was playing through Batman Arkham Asylum the second time and in the middle of playing it froze (and no not during the Scarecrow scene). I tried holding down the power button to shut the system off but it wouldn't work. I was forced to kill the power from the back of the system. I know that's a major no no but what else could I have done? Now my PS3 won't read my Batman Arkham Asylum disc anymore. When I put it in my PS3 I can hear it start spinning and I get the disc loading icon in the upper right corner of the screen. But after a few seconds the disc stops spinning and the disc loading icon goes away and the game is nowhere to be found in the games section of the crossbar. I know this sounds like the blu-ray laser is busted but here's the thing, my PS3 still plays everything else without a problem. Games, blu-ray movies, and DVD movies all still play with no problem. But for the life of me I can't get Arkham Asylum to work. I have tried restoring the default settings and I even did a full system restore but nothing has worked. Does anyone know what is going on here? Could the disc itself have been screwed up by the power kill? I don't have anyone near me with a PS3 so I don't have a way to check the disc on another console. Anybody have any ideas what I could do? Tech Specs: 80GB "big style" PS3 about 18 months old, not under warranty and purchased for me by a Sony employee so I don't have any receipt or warranty stuff. NOTE: I know I have already played through Arkham Asylum and beat it but I am a huge Batman fan and I loved Arkham Asylum so I'd like to try and save it if it's possible.

try deleting your game data (not the saves). if that doesnt fix it, the laser is probably going on it.

Wouldn't my game data have been deleted when I did the complete system reformat? I had to reinstall all my other games so I thought that would have deleted all the game data. Could it really be the laser going? This happened to me about 6 months ago and I am just posting this question about it now and all my other games and movies have had zero problems since this happened. Thanks for the post, I appreciate any help about this.

Before pulling the power cord try the manual eject button.

Before pulling the power cord try the manual eject button. Works for me when Black Ops hangs up.
