Sorry for being a newbie but I have never trade in any products that I have opened at Toys R Us but I just bought a brand new PS3 exactly 3 days ago and everything was working fine but now the components cable don't work. I tried it on multiple TV's and it dont work but when I hooked it up to an HDMI from my LCD TV it worked. Can I still trade in my PS3 for store credit at least?

You have to change the video output in system settings. 1. hook both sets of cables up the TV, put TV on HMDI input/'channel' (the signal is going through the hdmi now) 2. go into system settings on XMB 3. go to video output settings (I think it is called that) 4. change it from HDMI to component 5. now the signal will go through component (make sure to change your TV to the component input 'channel' [instead of the HDMI one]) It will not send a signal through both the HDMI and component at the same time note: you can do the same thing with sound (I don't have sound going through the HDMI connection)

Its really hard to understand what your saying? What I can gather from what you wrote, is that you are trying to view HD video using your component wires. You can't do that. You either use the HDMI cable to view HD, or you use your component cables to view SD. When you switch between the two (not sure why you would even bother doing this), you have to hold down the power button for several seconds, and it will reset the system allowing you to reconfigure your settings.

Actually the whole point of component cables is for HD. Component can do up to 1080i, and HDMI is full HD. Composite cables on the other hand are strictly for SD.

when you connect it with different cable when you turn it on just hold down the power button until it beeps twice. Then it will automatically adjust video settings to what's conneccted.

Why don't you just exchange the unit if you've only bought it 3 days ago?

PS3 comes with component cables now? Maybe you're just confusing the AV cables for them.

My bad I am talking about the wires that are yellow, red and white. I think post number 2 answered my question.

What I want to know is can I exchange my PS3 for store credit if its opened? Its only been 3 days.
