I believe there will be much more tecnology in 5-6 Years .

You might want to consider it when you get to an older age. Your going to need money, and alot of employes. Dont try to be decent and give them good deals, your working at Gamestop, you have to rip them off

For that you would have to open your own Store. As far As I know, Gamestops policies probably Wont Allow, Rent, a Lounge, and Snacks. Hope for the best though. If i lived in georgia I would surely go there.:)

Oh wow a job, never heard of one of those. Well in any event, I wouldn't bother. Gamestop crushes everyone that tries really. There are a few Game X Changes and Game Crazy stores in my area but they don't get as much business as gamestop. Opening a store online would be the smarter way to go.

good intention, about franchises: there are compliance related issues that would negate some of your desires. a personal co. or storefront with a personal business license wouldn't hinder your plans, but their pros and cons for either option.

There is a lot more than what your looking at to open any kind of business. Things like location, cost of franchise fees to use the company name, rent for commercial building which is higher than residential rental, insurance for employees and inventory, ability to obtain a small business loan, and that's just to get started. Trust me it's a whole lot more than just saying you want to start a business.

You sound pretty intelligent for a 12 year old, wanting to open a store instead of singing eminem on xboxlive. Stick to it, my friend used to run a game store, was a pretty good job. Rentals can be a headache though.

I'll agree, having a business goal at your age is rather rare. If your serious, you have plenty of time to think it through and take as many business oriented classes you can. This might not be the best place for advice on a business though. Good Luck.

When I was 12 I wanted to be a badass adventurer/archeologist ala Indiana Jones. Things change.

You're going to change a lot in those 6 years. You may not think so now, but trust me. Regardless of whether or not you will actually be able to open this store, chances are you will have different ideas/interests/priorities by the time you reach that age. You may not even still be friends with the same people.

But by all means, keep on dreamin'. Who knows, maybe you'll prove me wrong.

I have some ideas... but they are right... by the time comes and you're of the right age, there are some new things that are vailable and the ideas wouldn't make sense... but let's say you'll be putting it up now...

  • A very good/accessible location.
  • You gotta have a good library of games and with several copies of each; especially the on demand titles.
  • good LCD TVs, chairs, headsets, enough space between players.
  • a baggage counter.
  • Good security.
  • Polite, Honest, Hard-working, knowledgeable crew.
  • Promos such as 3 + 1... i mean play 3 hours and get 1 free.
  • Memberhips, Discounts and Freebies.
  • Tournaments.
  • Delicious yet affordable snacks.
  • VIP rooms with bigger LCD TVs and great sound systems.
  • A bulletin board with up-to-date gaming news.
  • Always keep the place clean and everything well-maintained.

You're gonna need a lot more than $20,000... lol Normally I'd be nicer, but you seem to be a typical spoiled rich kid.

this site looked interesting, especially for your situation. Youwill need a lot more experience before you attempt this. You can't expect to just open a store with a few thousand and expect to besuccesful. Also, don't expect to earn a decent living.

edit: take a look at this as well, (can't link)

ok, since i'm bored i just googled video game stores in douglassville area and i found 11 within 15 miles of the area code. i'm no expert, but it sounds like you really need to research location before you make any major invesments. keep in mind though that good research will cost a decent amount of money.

Ambitious for a 12 year old.

You're going to need a lot more money than 20k, not only do you need to pay the lease and keep the place up and running, you'd have to stock it full of you know...games. 20k sounds more likethe budget for a luxury entertainment/gaming room.

I remember when I was quite young... my friends and I designed these video games and dreamed of making them one day. We spent literally hundreds of hours producing this one title in Elementary School called "Story of Hiktori". It was an adventure game mixed with RPG elements. The game was actually quite massive, and it took us literally every computer class and half of every lunch in the entire school year to complete. Once we did, the feeling of accomplishment was immense. It was there where I had visions of becoming a video game designer one day. Years later, I'm still striving for that dream. So don't listen to those who say you won't be able to maintain that dream throughout all of those years. If it's something you seriously think you'll love to do, then you'll continue yearning for it. That's what separates dreams from temporary wants.

That's what separates dreams from temporary wants.hazelnutman
