Awesome. Yes it could be better, but wow, is it fun. But with all the Uncharted 2 and MW2 hype, is anyone else playing OFDR? If so, what are your thoughts and opinions?

I got the feeling from all the trailers that the level in OFDR are a lot like those in Battlefield: Bad Company. Meaning, they're kind of all the same. Open fields and wooded areas, all kind of looks the same. Is that how it is?

I'll probably be picking it up.

I'm not sure how much I'll like it yet though

I'm not very far into it yet, but so far yes areas of the island look fairly similar. However, there are also scattered buildings that I've needed to clear that had enemies waiting for me on the inside (in one case had to do quickly to evade a combat chopper). There is also the change in pace between open assault missions like storming a beach and night-time, thermal-scope, recon goodness. Yes, it's a shooter in a wooden environment. No, every map does not play the same.

My main thought after playing this game for a little over an hour is that people must realize that OpFlash has one of the steepest learning curves I've seen in a video game. Learning when to use each of your commands for them to be effective, learning how to compensate for bullet drop on long distance shots effectively, learning when its best to stay out of sight or assault an area. These are all things that take time and practice. The complaints about the graphics make sense I suppose, but I think they get the job done. Won't wow you though. But this is a game that relies on intense gameplay, not pretty graphics. This game really gives you the feeling that each step just may be your last.

Muller, do the boards a favor and elaborate a bit on why you're not a fan. People most likely don't care whether or not you like it, but what you have to say about why you don't like it.

for some reason i did not find learning curve bad, cause i went in there expecting it to not be like MW haha, and i heard u had to compensate for distance and what not so it wasnt that bad to me IMO

I bought ARMA II for my PC a few months ago but haven't played it yet. I might get OF2 if I like ARMA II. Apparently they're quite similar.

Actualy ArmAII is a nice game. But its realy getting old fast. Its a very demanding game for your PC. AI still acts like terminators instead of actual humans, its quite buggy and to tell you the trouth. It feals extreamly visceral and scary... When your not being attacked. The second you see the AI doing things like running over an open field almost waving to you "HEY HERE I AM SHOOT ME!!!" or gunships crashing into trees because the AI probably wasnt updated since ArmA1 or eaven OFP1 etc.

OFP2 seems to be alot more authentic in the AI department...

Well, I just picked up the game last night after work but wasn't able to give it a shot. Can't put down the crack which is demon's souls and then I had to watch survivor lol.

I look forward to the challenge though..

I meant learning curve as in getting used to when to which command mostly. I found myself wanting my team to defend an area and at the same time call out engagement orders which just makes them stop defending. Stuff like that.

I only played for 20 minutes and its too frustrating to get into..... so far..

Wish the crouch and sprint were switched

So far I have only killed enemies that are miles away and look like ants to me, I cant find a way to get in close...

AI is somewhat frustrating, is there a way to just tell them to stay????

Character graphcis are decent, but the environment is not that great.....

And weird hoe you shoot someone and your crosshairs get red and look like a star wars gun...

Guns on the other hand,,,feel strong, solid and very real like......

Very hard to get into......Im forcing myself to keep trying, but its hard...

To get them to stay there is a "halt" command. I think its under movement. As far as the crosshairs, that only happens on the lower difficulty levels and are there to let you know if you killed or damaged an enemy. Those will not show up on Hardcore mode (and maybe not on Experienced...I don't know).

Do not buy the game just yet, Code Masters still needs to polish it, the online multiplayer is unplayable because it uses p2p, and the CM servers aren't even working right now. There are just to many technical issues right now. But in all, the core gameplay is fun, I just spent 3 hours trying to beat mission 8 :(

I got the feeling from all the trailers that the level in OFDR are a lot like those in Battlefield: Bad Company. Meaning, they're kind of all the same. Open fields and wooded areas, all kind of looks the same. Is that how it is?dirtydishko2
and BF: BC2 has destructible environments. therefore it wins. even with BC2 coming out next year the game i want to see more of is Battlefield 3. it's gonna be epic.

Just today I dropped an airstrike on a medium sized house and when I went to make sure it was cleared out completely the house was completely leveled.

I don't own it "yet" but it looks pretty cool. I like the sound of a realistic game where you need "uncommon sense" and skill to prosper.... Unlike all the button mashers nowadays. >.>
