Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my set up.

I have an optical chord running from my ps3 to my 5.1 surround sound reciever, and an hdmi chord from my ps3 to the tv. How do I set it so that I can have 5.1 surround sound? Only the front speakers work right now

Sounds to me like you need to change a setting on your receiver, not the PS3. Check your receivers manual for how to switch from just the front speakers to 5.1.

If you're trying to surround sound at the menu desktop, it doesn't work cause it doesn't support DD or DTS. I set mine up for Pro Logic but once I start playing a game or movie, I get DD or DTS.
