I just purchased a brand new copy of Heavy Rain from Amazon, but when I got it today, I noticed that it is the ORIGINAL version of the game, not the Move edition. In other words, the cover doesn't have that blue "PlayStation Move" thing in the upper-right corner.

Well, I'm wondering whether I should return this and pick up the Move edition instead. Or if it is actually BETTER to keep the original version of the game? For one thing, I know that the Move support is a free, downloadable patch, so if you PATCH the original version, isn't that the same as having the Move edition ... except for the fact that you can opt NOT to patch the game if you have the original?

Also, I've searched the issue of Heavy Rain's saves being locked/copyrighted online, and it seems like people have said that the game didn't originally have locked saves (that cannot be transferred), but that the Move edition introduced this? Can anyone who owns or has played the original version of the game confirm this? Because if that is true, then maybe I actually LUCKED out, getting an older copy of the game, which doesn't have the Move patch pre-installed (along with copyrighted save files)?

If it matters, I don't even have a PS Move and probably won't be getting one anytime soon ...

I just think that if you can patch the original version to be the same as the Move edition (or opt NOT to), then maybe the original version is actually better?

I'm going to get the Move Edition because it includes the DLC mission. Don't have Move yet either and don't plan to get it yet.

The original will be just fine. Even when you patch it you can still play with or without the Move controller. I do recommend playing it with Move though. It really adds so much to the experience and is very immersive.

Well actually, now I'm confused. I was reading up on Heavy Rain a bit more, and it seems like the MOVE EDITION was a version that was only released in the UK?

Some people are saying that in the USA, there was only the downloadable PATCH that was released, and there was never a Move EDITION released? I mean, I understand that imported PS3 games will also work on a PS3 in the US, but the problem is it doesn't even seem like American retailers (like Amazon.com)are even selling the Move Edition.

Is that why Amazon only has the original version listed? It doesn't even sell the Move Edition, which supposedly has the DLC content as well.

I'm hoping that if I refuse to download the patch, it will also leave out the copyright on the game saves. It's a longshot.

Why is the save thing even bothering you? It just makes sure that you don't give your save file away to others. You can still back it up with system back up or back it up to the cloud if you have PS Plus. There is a reason they implemented the copyright thing, the game is ruined if you start halfway through off a friend's save file or to trophy share.

you can use the move with either edition, its just a free download to use it. I dont know if you get the Taxidermist DLC with both editions or not.

If I remember correctly i've seen the Move edition in stock at my local Wal-Mart here in the U.S. I really don't think you have any issue to speak of. As far as collectibility goes you have the best copy for that.

No, I just took a close look at the copies of Heavy Rain at my local store. The newer versions simply have the PlayStation Move logo or whatever in the upper right-hand corner ... and below it, it says "playstation move compatible via ONLINE update" ... which confirms what I said. There IS no Move "edition" in the USA.

All they did was put that in the upper right-hand corner on newer copies to let people know that they can now DOWNLOAD the update online. It's still exactly the same as the original. The Move "edition" is only avaiable in Europe.

I bought the Move Edition of Heavy Rain 2nd hand, it had the original cover but the CD was the Move Edition of the game. When you load it up it actually gives the option of being able to choose between the regular version using the duel shock, and the Move Edition which is good. I have subsequently bought a Move and all the bits and pieces and founf Heavy rain isn't something I'd want to play using it, although that's just my personal opinion and based on a very short play using it. Also with the move I got a disc of demo's and there are some good games, most however seem to be made for the Move only.

That all being said, I would advise you where you can to try a game to see what you think of it, I find the Movve can be great on some games, on others the duelshock (in my opinion) is the better controller to use, I think it willall depend on your personal preference I guess is the best way to describe it.

If you search "heavy rain move edition" in Google Images (which I probably should have done in the first place ...), you see the cover of the Move edition is the alternative one ... it does not have the four playable characters, only the origami symbol. The game with that cover is NOT sold in the USA. So if you purchased the Move edition, then you must have purchased the European version of the game. Which is fine, but my point is that you cannot buy it here.

If you googled the images, you can see that the Move edition cover does not have the ESRB ratings, but uses the European/UK one.

The EU / UK Move edition is the PLATINUM version - PLATINUM edition games are released in the EU / UK so you would be right to think that its only released in the UK

I think the UIS just got that Normal move edition as well as a Greatest Hits edition, Greatest Hits editions alos only being released in the US

On a side note i would like to ask, the PLATINUM MOVE EDITION comes with the DLC on the disc right?

No, there is no Move Edition in the USA. Like I said before, the Move Edition has the origami symbol on the cover, NOT the four playable characters. That cover is not sold in the USA. I just took a look at the Greatest Hits version of the game in my local store. It is still the exact same game, except red label. The upper right hand corner has the PlayStation Move icon, and under it it says "PS Move compatible via online update," which means all they did was put that on the cover to make it known that the game can now be UPDATED with Move support ONLINE.

The game itself does not come with the patch/update already installed. That is only in Europe.

Wait, you're asking all these questions about the move edition but really have no intent on even getting a move? Why even ask about it then? I don't understand how you could think that getting the move edition would some how enhance the regular version. The only thing I've read that is better about the move compatable version is the DLC included. It's an awesome game. If it were me playing this for the first time, I wouldn't be on a forum debating about the Europe/Move edition. I'd be playin the game.

Move Edition is not a US release. US got basically the same thing though for it's "greatest hits" version (which is called "director's cut"), but it's only the ones that come in a red box that get the extra content. As far as the US releases go, I personally would be just fine with the original edition. Can't you just download the Move support? My understanding is Move support was added to all copies of Heavy Rain via a patch, in the case of a game like this I'd much rather have the original release than the ugly greatest hits packaging and red case/labels.. If the game included lots of extra content it would be one thing, but the extra content was only like 5-10 minutes long supposedly. Not really worth it. A few greatest hits offer enough extra content to more than offset having a somewhat ugly packaging, in this case I'd much rather have the original version.

But that's just me. Of course I'm actually thinking of importing the "Move Edition" from the UK since I always liked the Euro boxart better for this game, and it comes with the extra episode as well. Just like the "directors cut".

I just exchanged the original version for the Greatest Hits version.

Inside the box, the manual is exactly the same and makes no mention of the add-on content or Move support. You still have to update the game with Move support online. So far, I don't see the DLC content anywhere, so I guess it must be downloaded.

Which means the Greatest Hits version is exactly the same as the original game, only red label.
