I recently did a video about some random games for the PS4 that I consider to be overlooked by most gamers and critics alike. Some more than others. I really like discovering games that I never heard about and/or aren't mentioned much in the main gaming websites.

I hope I can do more videos about the subject and explore more games, so i hope we can exchange suggestions on games.

I'm not creating this topic just to spam my video by the way. Feel free to ignore it, as I'm listing the games I mention in the video:

1- Senran Kagura: Estival Versus

2- The Sexy Brutale

3- Hotline Miami Collected Edition

4- Onechanbara Z2: Chaos

5- Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed

6- Little Nightmares

7- Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today

8- River City Melee: Battle Royale SP

9- Gal*Gun: Double Peace

10- Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star

11- Retro City Rampage DX

12- Gravity Rush Remastered

13- Blade Arcus from Shining EX

14- Dragon Quest Heroes

15- Tearaway Unfolded

16- OlliOlli: Epic Combo Edition

17- School Girl/Zombie Hunter

Sure, some are actually quite popular, but still...

Dust: An Elysian Tale, Lone Survivor, Valiant Hearts: The Great War, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture

And I'm sure a bunch of indie games would fall in this category. I usually only play smaller games if they're PS+ games, which I think all the above games I mentioned were.

Questionable if some on the list "deserve more attention".

The Senran Kagura series for example sells really well considering the low development cost of the franchise games.

And games like Onechanbara Z2: Chaos I don't feel are actually worth praise, as a Hack n' Slasher it's as dull and flat-on-level-design as TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan. I've played both and would recommend buying DMC4: Special Edition, Nioh or Nier: Automata instead.

Gravity Daze deserves far more love but so does its sequel, I personally find it stressful on my eye sight to play those games. Much like VR it can cause kinetosis in some players. Yet if you can handle the games, it's certainly a great experience.

Indies tend to get thrown under unless advertised so I can see why some others on here I've simply never even read before. Owlboy last year set a high standard for me, and hope it comes to PS4 for more to play it. I also got Mother Russia Bleeds but did not reach the standards I would have liked, but was still an enjoyable game. Another smaller game called Putty Squad, I feel the artstyle puts alot of people off the game but it's a nice retro experience.

Tearaway I simply view as one of the best games in recent years. And no-one bought it, which is saddening.

The Disgaea series is always overlooked. It is, in my opinion, the best SRPG series out there and destroys any other game in the genre with its huge amount of content. It's a series where people call the docents of hours long story mode just a tutorial for the post game :D

By the way, I should have clarified...I meant mostly games that have a physical release as well, and that are overlooked in the west, primarily.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

@danjel_leinad:

I'm sure most who buy games have access to the internet and the PSNStore. I prefer physical as well, but disregarding digital kinda goes against your own topic.

and that are overlooked in the west, primarily.

. . . Well now. That's one step further.

"most gamers and critics alike"

Didn't get that from the original post. Should make that more clear in future. You get people from different countries on the forums.

Agreed. I love Makai Senki Disgaea, Flon is the best ΘεΘ

but I always felt it sells well overall. However, based on how this thread is being messaged, it's a US focused discussion. . so my point of view is that of an outsider. .

@RSM-HQ: I'm also unsure what this thread is about, but naming Disgaea probably fits. It does have a very strong cult following that spent a lot of time researching every little aspect of the series. But usually when somebody asks me "What's your fav. game" and I tell them Disgaea, they haven't heard of it. Btw I like most of the characters, not only Flonne. I guess it would be easier naming the few ones I didn't like (Kurtis for example).

Oh and I agree that it's weird to exclude digital games. Especially digital games can get overlooked because they do not stand around in a shelf.

@ArchoNils2: I have lots of favorites as well, Flons just my childhood favorite; her attitude is Disgaea to me lol.

As for the thread, it's for very selective perspectives as we are now informed. Can't really add to the topic but I always love chatting about a favorite series of mine.

Have a great day dood

Senran Kagura Estival Versus is my favourite game on PS4 to right now. The battle system is great, with a lot of air-combos with good amount of fun to play characters. Its story is pretty stupid, but Katsuragi's character is GOLD.

I'll second the mentions of Disgaea... not really my genre but I did enjoy the one game I played, which was Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention. Spent like 100 hours with it. And I recently bought the Vita version of Disgaea 4 from the recent sale, so I did like it enough to return apparently.

I really like Jstars on my PS4 & PS Vita but no one I know has ever heard of it. I also really like this little indie game I picked up for both called Spy Chameleon. I'm not really big on indies but it's fun as hell and a great way to pass the time.

Ratchet and Clank. I know that this might seem to be an odd choice, but whenever people bring up top tier PlayStation games, Ratchet always gets left out. Uncharted and GTA get mentioned without much thought, but Ratchet always seems to go forgotten., Hot Shots or Everybody's Golf. The new PS4 game is not out yet, but I am sure most people will pass on the game when it comes out in late August. It sucks that the new Uncharted game comes out a week before the new Everybody's Golf. The Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams, Pix the Cat, Velocity 2X, Tales of Baseria, and Blazblue are all games that go overlooked.
