PSP2...really?

yes this is being a killjoy but has anybody else thought that with Sony's step forward in the gaming industry with the Playstation Move that maybe they aren't actually thinking about a PSP2 yet?

Yes it has been long anticipated but would that stop Sony?..they have made losses in recent yeras and adding a whole new handheld console may just bump up their overall costs and it may even make a loss against the 3DS..

I guess that maybe it is just me thinking this...

not just about the PSP2 but thinking that it won't ever show up..or if it does it will be terrible :|

I'm not really interested in a PSP 2. I just want a PSP Go that lets me do something with my UMD's and an improved PSN Store.

i disagree, the psp is an excellent handheld, far more superior then any other.

i definitely hope we get a psp2

thats why i'm getting another PSP lol i sold my old one. Yeah it is excellent but Sony don't agree with us and must think EVERYBODY prefers their consoles NOT their handhelds..

Its widely expected the PSP 2 will be revealed at TGS (especially since the show will be on soon before the 3DS launch).

Though as usual, we probably get a leak of it before then.

From what ive read they have moved it back from TGS to CES 2011 because of the Tegra 2 chip that is having trouble. Just google "psp2 tegra" and youll get what insiders believe will happen.

It makes sense when you think about it though. There WILL BE a psp2, sony has put to much money to make it a one generation brand, we are looking at least at 2 if not 3 generations of the psp before sony calls it quits.

IMO from the start PSP was flawed in ways that Sony doesn't typically do. Dual analog was on the first PS, so why wasn't it on the PSP? PS2 was played on DVD and made the system have a larger appeal to most people as a DVD player and same with Blue Ray and PS3. The latest systems are done in a forward thinking format, but the UMD has failed. Now what really is the proper format for a new hand held? IDK but I think something similar to a memory stick(kinda like a ds game) would probably be the best idea, it also makes it far more portable. I think that decision wasn't a reality with the PSP because memory sticks were far more expensive when the PSP was released than they are today. I think now that many technologies are far more stream lined if they simply go with the flow they could make something really worth while. I'm mostly thinking of something like the GO(in terms of size, clam shell is best for portable hand helds though), something with an HDD but also has a compact format to have physical media. Another thing I think that has hurt it is the price, when it first came out I would have bought it but the price was just too high. There were many promises made for PSP at launch and many of the titles simply didn't happen(Mega Man Legends & Resident Evil), they also gave us things like a MGS card game, who would rather have acid than portable ops? In short it had a bad launch, over priced, not so portable games, not many games and a single analog stick really is a recipe for a flop. I still am happy with it but it is a noticeably flawed machine.

That's another problem. Sony needs to can the umd, it would free space for more important things. Besides cartridges offer bigger capacity, load's faster and it would extend the battery life.
