From reading on various forums it seems that Pal/Ntsc speed problem still exsists even with hd (they still output as 50hz or 60hz)

Is it true Pal Ps3's are limited to a 50hz output even in hd modes

Can anyone confirm this?

So if you have a Pal Ps3 and an hdtv your games are still going to be 17.5% slower than an Ntsc Ps3 and hdtv?

So what is the point in buying a Pal Ps3 then?

with the default cables that come inside the ps3 box, pal ps3 play pal games at 50Hz, buy better cables, you'll be able to play in 60Hz mode in case the pal game is capable of it, with ps2 it worked like this. With hdmi i'm not sure.

My PAL PS3 does 60 Hz. It's always 720p, 60 Hz or 1080i, 60 Hz.

Isn't it up to game and the TV you've got whether they support 60hz or not? Like RE4 on the ps2... It support 60hz and all you need is a TV which also support 60hz. If the PS2 can do it, I am sure the PS3 can.
