When you signed in you should have had to enter an email address. Chances are you still have the information there in an email. You also may have to just go to the account settings manager to request your information be sent.
What system are you asking about ? If it's the PS3 I think you go into system settings and reset system to default settings which then your password is all zero's 0000.

No it just resets your system to default settings, only formatting your HD would remove games saves.
Go to www.us.playstation.com and click on support. Call them and tell them and they'll send you a new temporary password to your E-mail associated with it and then you can go into account management afterwards and change it to whatever you like.

lol look at all the one post accounts who revive the dead topic. But hey atleast you searched and 0000 only works unless you changed it, also this is only for the 4 digit password on the system itself for changing parental settings and stuff.
I'm trying to recover my password too but thing thing is playstation sent a message to my email but for one reason when i try to go to my email it sais temporary error all the time!!!!!!
