The question is simple. Do you like sony's new approach to game as they are testing out a downloadable version of patapon 2. I think personally this is a terrible idea. It will effect patapon 2 sales and really damage the company. Call me old fashioned but i like to hold a game case and umd in my hand. Down loads in my opinion are just plain un reasonable. not only do they hurt the stores. (im not a huge fan of gamestop as their trade ins and games are enourmously over priced) but im tlaking about smaller stores. What is sony thinking

I have ot say I am in the middle. It's cool it's downloable but I would like to have a UMD Copy option also. Why? Becuase I really don't want the next PSP ot lost the UMD drive. No Backwards compatblity? (THat means we would have to caryy 2 psps plus whatever else we mgith use or carry on trips...). While Downloads have faster laod times, use less batterey it also woudl use alot of space in memory and well I just want a HArd Copy Option with my games. The option is always nice.

I like it the idea. I really don't like UMD's and I'd rather have the game on my 8GB MS instead. As far as box art goes, I'm perfectly fine with just the splash screen that shows up when hovering the game's icon... I heard that running games from the MS uses less memory, so that's also a plus of the digital copy. The PSP has terrible battery life and I don't mind getting a little extra time.

well... their are pros and cons to each.

pros.

it gives you a unlimited number of downloads just in case you lose your memory stick/ get a new psp

no need to waist gas to go and pick it up

an infinite supply of copy's for the people so it is impossible for a shortage.

no need for the company to ship copy's around so it cuts out the middle man ( a con for the middle men)

Internet/ wifi is every wear so the excuse about you have no Internet is mute.

cons.

people have a satisfaction n holding the game in their hands.

eliminates tradeins for games again cutting out the middle men to make money off used games.

not everyone knows wear to look for the Internet

not everyone Internet is fast so it might take a while to download.

also takes money away from the middle men and send it directaly to sony instead of bot of them

now for people who don't have Internet readily available, my suggestion is just go to a McDonald's.

allot of them have free wifi so you can get lunch and download your game in the mean time ( Starbucks works too)

il let you choose

Well when you talk about smaller stores they are still gonna sell it with a game case and manual book, but instead of a umd in it there will be a code for you to download it with which im perfectly fine as long as I get my box to stare at and come one the patapon 2 box art looks amazing!

I would rather have a physical copy of the game. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I really enjoy going through my game collection and looking at the discs, (I often overlook the art on the game discs/UMDs) the manuals and the cases. I may compare ratings between games of different franchises, or play them again to observe differences and pros and cons between them. I would not like to go back and re-download every game to play it again, if I deleted it off my memory stick to make room for another game or such. I don't know. I like to admire where my money went and I enjoy the fact that if I want to play them, they are right there. Internet or not.

I would rather have a two way approach. I would like the game to come out in downloadable format but also have a hard copy version. Make the downloadable one cheaper because you gut out the middle man and there you have it, everyone can have the best of both worlds.

I concur. This is the best approach to the downloaded game dilemma.

I like to do things the old fashioned way, so I prefer UMDs. I also like the boxes so I can add them to my collection....So I prefer hard copy.

I dont get this. When I walk into Game or Gamestation they have boxes on the shelf. So are they selling hard copies aswell or is it solely downloads?

I prefere having the options, people who does not like the UMD can download the game and people like me who preferes a hardcopy/UMD can buy it.

As said before "one can see where the money has gone" and it can also be traded.
