HDMI to DVI cable should do the trick.

Make sure the monitor is HDCP compliant and that it has a DVI input.  Then get a HDMI cable and a DVI to HDMI converter and you're all set.

there's a device called GameSwitch

even if your monitor doesn't have HDCP, but as long as it has a DVI port, it'll do the trick

I've got a question related to this, I'll ask it here rather than creating an entirely new topic.

When using HDMI - DVI, is it possible to use RCA for audio? If not, how else are you able to get Audio?

I've been told, albeit somewhat vaguely, that you can select an audio source from the PS3's setup menus (I.E HDMI for video, RCA for Audio). Since I don't actually own a PS3, yet, I'm just wondering how valid this actually is.

Yes, you can use the RCA for audio. My friend doesn't have an HDTV but he really wanted to play my Armored Core 4 game (he's a big fan of AC). We were having a party at his house so I brought my monitor over to his place and my PS3. We hooked up the HDMI to the monitor and pluged the red and white cables (the cables that came with the PS3) into his TV (he doesn't have a sound system either). We just changed the audio settings to the use those cables instead of optical (which is what I had at my place). It worked really well, and he was very happy. So I've tested it and yes you can use them.

Thanks a ton for the reply, exactly what I wanted to know. This works out perfectly for me as I have a high end monitor and headphone setup. It's actually impressive how 'modular' the PS3 can be in regards to output.

YW :) Yes I like that about the PS3 too. It makes it easier to enjoy it in a lot of different setups. On the few occasions that I've had to take my PS3 somewhere away from my setup at home, that ability does come in handy. :)

I'm using a 22' Gateway 2275W and its a beauty.  It has DVI,VGA,component, and composite inputs.  I paid about 350 for it and it was well worth it.

Hello. I have looked around and I can't find a simple answer or inexpensive way of connecting my PS3 to a non HDCPcompliant monitor despite all the forums. My monitor is a Philips 170B5 17" LCD Monitor that can be seen here...

I did come across one cable though that looked like it could work. Type this in in google because I can't use hyperlinks

'HD15 (VGA) Male to RCA x 3 Female, Double-Shielded, (HD15 to Component Video) Adaptor, 1 ft'

Can someone tell me if this would work or not. Any help would be appreciated.
