Fans have been asking for it so here it is! The inevitable port of Persona 3!

Features include:

  • Players can now choose their own genders! Meaning, male dormer S.links open up! Junpei, Akihiko...and Ken
  • From the comfort of P4, you can now directly command your party members! The improved option of AI is still available.
  • New scenes added! An absolute must to keep things fresh.
  • 5 Difficulties for the newly enteries of Beginner to the veteran madness of the Maniacs mode.
  • New town interface, instead of moving your character around you use a cursor. A necessary sacrifice for new content.
  • The dominant use of Pink for the Female protagonist.
  • Shoji Meguro returns with new tracks! (I love you Shoji Meguro!)

Those are the features at the top of my head.

Opening

School Gameplay

Dungeon Gameplay

Release Date: November 1, 2009 in Japan. However, rest assured that it will be eventually translated since Atlus is such a generous company.

As for why they skipped Persona 2, it could be either because of Hitler or because there were more people begging for a P3 port. Either way, this port is real and looking great.

Yay you posted gameplay for P3P thanks a lot TC. I think I'm going to lose another 200hrs of my life playing P3 again lol. As for a port of P2 I'm sure we will see one especially if sells of P1 and P3 are good.

I heard about this yesterday, this is great news! I'm suprised it's a straight port of P3 with new content. Personally, I prefer the cursor system during the daytime to actually roaming around. I'm really excited for this, makes me want to buy a PSP GO. (current psp battery broke, so it's not really portable)

Nope

It has the gameplay changes of FES (weapon fusion, new social link, etc.) but it doesn't have The Answer add on.

Heh, I think I'll wait, it shouldn't take too long since it's a port. Just wondering, how long did Persona 3 take to translate? Since most of the script is already translated to english, and the PSP version of the game is close to being done, a U.S. release shouldn't be too far off the Japanese release right?

I should get FES again. I miss that game. It's good to hear about a handheld port though, and with additional content to boot. I'll pick it up when I get a PSP. Release date?

I'm actually kind of surprised they didn't do this sooner. My first impressions of Persona 3 was that control-wise, everything was possible on the portable. Still, this is great news. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to play P3 during college when my console (softBC PS3. NOT bringing that to college. 1, it'd probably get stolen, and 2, even if it didn't, I'd end up failing all my classes. lol.).

Well sure graphics and navigation is improvised but we're getting extra content along with it. Female protagonist? New Social links?

...Oh dude. I didn't bother watching the School gameplay video, but... That's kind of terrible. I mean... well. Not terrible, but that's like Devil Survivor, but DS has a larger space constraint than the PSP. It's disappointing. I like moving around.

We'll probably see a port of it. I can see them porting P3 first just because it is their highest selling MegaTen title (including spin off's)

Well in all honesty my opinion on this matter would amount to nothing considering this port isnt out yet and I havent played it. BUUUUT from the looks of things its shaping up to be a faithful, yet crappy ass port, so yes, if you want to experience P3 then go for the PSP version ;)

As for me, the new addons and such would really tempt me to purchase the game a third time. yes, I have persona 3 and Persona 3 FES. If I had a PSP, I would most certainly add P3P to my collection

Persona 3 was never a graphical powerhouse, and the translation to the PSP looks fine. If you're going to whine about mediocre graphics in a game based on fantastic gameplay and story you should stick to final fantasy. Also, I look at the new school navigation as a benefit. It fits the play style of portables better, and I always felt Minato was kind of slow. This should speed up the time wasted running around the town trying to get stuff done before heading to a S.Link or preparing for Tartarus.

SimoSays2541

Way to misinterpret a clearly spelled out statement, I merely meant P3s graphics for the PS2 are superior to this port, which is fact.

I call it as I see it. P3 for the PS2 is the definitive and seemingly superior version of the game. I already have both PS2 versions so Ill stick with them and save my money.

Persona 3 Fes is one of my favorite games and the reason I got into MegaTen games so I will definitely be picking this up. The port looks good so far. I'm curious to see how the social links will change for the female character and what that creepy male Elizabeth is like. I think I would prefer to actually control the character for the town navigation, but I guess we won't really know if it's better or worse until the game actually comes out. Hopefully the US release comes out soon. Now we just need Persona 2 ported.

So you are saying P3 FES (The Answer) wasn't essential either to the storyline since the original didn't have it, and it wasn't as good as P3? Also let's not forget P3P is bringin very nice improvements to the gameplay, aside from every other important added material, which can change the whole experience. Now if you think you have had enough P3 and don't feel like playing it again, it's another thing.

Err, why not try it for yourself instead of relying on someone else to tell you what's great or not? Also remember there's "different strokes for different folk", so something you might like may be disliked by other people and vice versa. Personally for me it's a combination of the battlesystem/general gameplay, the characters and story. Also the soundtrack, baby baby baby baby.

Oh, all right. Then you enjoy your definitive version while I enjoy my upgraded and overall better version and my (future) portable with other interesting upgrades and changes version. P3 for the PS2 will undoubtably be better than P3P, in that regard Im not spending money on the inferior version of a game I already have.

Man, there's some heated stuff going on in here

I don't know why everyone is ganging up on Oath. It's really not your problem if he doesn't think it will live up to the original or doesn't want to buy it. Just enjoy the game for you instead of trying to get everyone to buy it and worship it. I personally can't wait for the game because I can't get enough of SMT games, but his decision to not buy the game is none of my concern. It's not like he's making wild accusations either. Usually portable versions of games are toned down, but we'll never really know for sure until we play it. Odds are the PS2 version will always be the better version, but that doesn't mean the PSP one won't be great with its added features. You never know though.

Ok, I'm done now.

Wait what? Aren't you being kind of conceited? Last time I checked one could actually discuss on forums, but now it seems you just can't else people will go to the defensive once they can't even argument anymore. You are in all your right to not buy it, as I said, but I also pointed that, while P3P will be inferior in some aspects to the original (mostly just the navigation part), it will also be superior in others(Battlesystem, overall content). FES is still a better game than P3 in every aspect, tho.
