I keep hearing great things about this game on vita, so I really want to try it. The only problem is that I have little to none experience with these types of RPG's (unless you count pokemon). I want to know if I'll have a hard time with this game on the easiest difficulty.

I don't actually own Golden yet.

But I have the original, and easy mode is easy enough for my little sister, who also has no experience with RPGs, to play and it wasn't too hard for her. But Golden also has very easy mode. If its anything like very easy mode in Persona 3 Portable then it is laughably easy. I think you'll do fine.

depends on the difficulty level. although, the difficulty level only really determines how much you have to grind. boss fights are the only battles i would consider "hard"... but they are never that difficult to complete as long as you are an appropriate level. i am playing on the hardest difficulty and as long as i grind a bit before each boss i have never had to try a boss more than twice.

I believe there's 5 or 6 difficulty levels, but you can't change it after you start the game. When your group is wiped out in a dungeon you can resume from the start of the same floor of that dungeon making it easy to re-try it (on normal difficulty anyways), you only lose progress for that floor of the dungeon (a floor really only takes maybe 10 minutes or less to complete).

I wouldn't really say the game is very difficult.

I wouldn't consider the game to be hard since you can just grind your way to victory, even on higher difficulties.

My first playthrough of it was on the "normal" diffculity. It is one of the easier JRPGs i have played. I expected it to be more grind-based since its from atlus.. but it turns out it's not as hard as i expected. Hard or not, the gameplay is still extremely fun and it is one of my favorite RPGs of all time...

Depends. If you just treat it like Final Fantasy and completely forget about the social activities and fusing Personas, then of course it's going to be hard regardless of difficulty. But as long as you remember to keep an eye on social activities (they can enhance your allies' battle abilities) and fuse some Personas, I'm sure you'll do fine. If not, you can always ask us questions!

There's always a walk-through or guide if you get a little stuck, but I don't think it'll be too hard for a newbie.

Dont worry my friend, P4 offers different levels of difficulty, basically there is Very easy & Easy options which I wouldnt suggest but in your case you might want to play the game on one of these so you'll enjoy the story even more..

I admit this is currently the best PSV game and you'll definately enjoy it..

If you're scared of the difficulty, then start with the "Very Easy" setting (you earn EXP and Money faster, your party is absurdly strong while enemies are weak, and you can retry a boss battle if you get killed without having to go back to the dungeon start). I beat the game the first time almost without relying on a walkthrough.

I believe there's 5 or 6 difficulty levels, but you can't change it after you start the game.

Incorrect. You can change the difficulty level while a game is in progress. When you're in control of your character, just press Triangle, select System (at the first few parts of the game when you haven't awakened your Persona yet, pressing Triangle goes straight to the "System" part), then select Change Difficulty. I did just that when I accidentally started at Normal and found it too tough (I set it back to "Very Easy" without restarting the game progress).

Looking under system/settings there's no way to change difficulty. Google says you can only change difficulty on New Game+

If you're new to persona games or atlus RPGs in general id say stick with normal diffculty, and then if you find it less challenging than expected you can always do hard on a new game+

I wouldn't recomend playing hard difficulty for your first time, unless you want to do a lot of heavy grinding and do-overs from critical elemental kills.

you cannot change the games difficulty without restarting from the beginning. the game even tells you so when you choose your difficulty.

Persona 4 isn't too hard. It was my first Persona and I played it on normal. I died a couple times on a couple of bosses in the begining because I wasn't really prepaired and the boss mechanics are tuff. but after you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty fun and I stopped dying.

Normal then ? Good stuff I like it hard but supposedly Normal still poses are a challenge so that's good thanks for the advice.

I actually thought Persona 4 Golden is much easier than the orginal ps2 version, specially when comes to Rise, she much more powerful in Golden.

The main reason I say that is because of all the social links outside of battling. Normal is still going to be challenging, especially early on. This version has more stuff to do outside of fighting than the PS2 version did, so you don't want to have to spend too much time inside the tv world.
