IGN lists Persona 5 as a PS3 exclusive on their site. Gamespot still only has a game page for a "Shin Megami Tensei (working title)" for PS3.
Maybe we should start a petition and send to Atlus...? I would love to have Persona 5 on the PS3! :)

Persona will likely make its way to the PlayStation 3 at some point -- the PlayStation has served as its home since its inception, after all, so for to not be released on PS3 would be crazy. When that will be, however, is up in the air. The team behind that particular sub-series has been busy with that other game at the moment, though, so it likely won't be anytime soon.
Hence the question mark in the subject line... I'm wondering where IGN gets that info since Atlus, as you say, have been refusing to comment.I don't think Atlus has ever officially named the platform for Persona 5.

They just ass/u/me there way through life. :PI don't think Atlus has ever officially named the platform for Persona 5.

I'd say there's a very good chance that Persona 5 will end up being on the PS3 even if it's not an exclusive. All the other Persona games have been released on a Sony console.
I guess there's a slight chance it could end up being on the PSP/NGP, but I'd still put my money on the PS3.
Oh, well, I was talking about it coming to PSP/PSP2 as well as PS3... not any other, ahem, rival, console that dies from over-heating way too often. :?It should be. It will hurt to see my favorite series on the other console. It's like seeing my girlfriend with another man. :(

I don't think Atlus has ever officially announced Persona 5 at all. That being said, I'm sure they'll make one. I personally don't care what system it ends up on, as long as we get it. I'd prefer PS3 but I'll get it regardless of what system it comes out for.I don't think Atlus has ever officially named the platform for Persona 5.

I think there have been hints dropped (or maybe that's just the press misinterpreting rumors or something), but yeah, they haven't officially announced it yet. Probably won't hear anything on that point either for at least another year or two given that they've been busy with development on Catherine up till now, which no doubt took the team's entire focus.
details about the game is VERY scant - i don't think it's even officially announced to be in development yet. in any case i certainly hope that it's a PS3 exclusive - afterall, the franchise grew on the exclusive support of the Playstation community (mine included) and i think it's every bit our bragging right to call the franchise our own. that said, business is business so i won't hold my breath. if it indeed ends up being multiplat, the title has to be perfectly optimised for PS3. anything less than on par with Xbox360's quality gets zero support from me. the same goes to Catherine.

No offense but how can you be a mod and not know how this kind of thing works? IGN and lots of gaming websites have stuff like this where its logically their best guess when nothing official has ever been said.. based on Atlus's history its almost a sure bet it will be on PS3 and seeing as how well P3/4 did on PS2 that sony would like to make it an exclusive.I don't think Atlus has ever officially named the platform for Persona 5.

I believe it'll be exclusive with JRPG's are Exclusive like Disgaea 3, Atelier Rorona, Hyperdimension Neptunia, and etc. I think Catherine was multiplat cuz its a new IPYoung_CharterCatherine is a puzzle game too, and an "erotic" one, Ero/Otaku games do pretty well on 360 in Japan actually, its like the only reason people over there buy one because theres a decent selection of Japanese exclusives.
Catherine is made by the Persona guys, there's no way Persona 5 isn't going multi. I'm sure they'll use a modified Catherine engine for itistuffedsunnyYeah, the most they've said is that Catherine is basically the engine test for their next project which is going to be "big." if its not P5 it'll be another SMT game.

There was this report in March 2010 that work had begun on Persona 5. Though, I'm starting to believe their priorties changed and they switched focus to Catherine around that time. After Catherine finished, then they decided to work full time on P5.
I would have thought a Persona 5 would be announced after Catherine was released in Japan this week.

Starting a thread to try and find out if there's solid information about the game and what platform it might be for, seemed like a good idea. :)

True, well even though this gen is about FPS kinda, there's always a crowd in love and need for some J-RPG's
