Phantasy Star Portable = AWFUL (For those of you who haven't played it)

Frankly it sucks. Multilayer is such a huge part of PSU that NOT putting it in should have been a big red flag. Additionally you can no longer run around your room, towns and shops in 3D. The towns and your room have been reduced to a minu that overlays on a static image of the location while shops have been reduced to isometric layout of the shop where you move a pointer over the shop keep you want to talk to. Frankly what is the point of buying and wearing a mens swimsuit if the only time its seen is in a mission? The missions and levels are fully preserved as well as the bad guys and items... Truly sad. I expected so much more. Sadly this game is more like an E3 tech Demo than a game.

I didn't like it for the same reason as the person above, plus the boring music...

Sorry on your dissapointment...But I think it's amazing and I am gonna put many hours into this game

Same problem exists with Monster Hunter PSP games. No Online Multiplayer = waste of a game.

i was really sad when i heard it wont have online multiplayer, but after i played the demo i was really excited to get it... still waiting to get my hands on a copy :D

I downloaded the demo, and was really disappointed by it. I'm not surprised the reviews have been less than stellar.

I thought it is quite ok, but anyway this is my first Phantasy star games, so I don't know anything about previous game to make any comparison. I just reached level25, and everything so far is good, except that, I'm wondering if anyone else find the CAST Vivienne abit annoying? Maybe it's just me, but I thought she just talk too much. XD

One thing I have to agree is that, the music is dull.

I think it's actually a pretty awesome & entertaining game. It's my first phantasy star game so..I think that's why I ACTUALLY like it lol.

Geez why hateing on a sick game so it dont have the online play but it dose work with ps3 via adhoc,and we all need too remember that its a psp game and not a ps3/360 that can hold so much more. i give this game a 10 anyway i base rateing a game on the fun i have and not flows it dose have.

I just finish playing the demo, and I enjoy it, but there something about the cutscenes that I don't like. They just look meh IMO. I probably get the game when its cheaper.

I thought the demo was great, I tried phantasy star blue burst, but couldn't get into it. Phantasy star portable was much better IMO. I would buy the game now If I had the money. Oh and you can play online, you just have to download some program and connect your PSP to either the PS3 or PC. I forget what it was but they mentioned it in the phantasy star portable forum.

I guess you can not teach old dogs new tricks. I have never played a Phantasy Star game until last week. It was a very fun game when I played it, Being that PS Zero is coming out I will pic up the PS Portable. The graphics were really good. The story seemed like it may be interesting. I have never played any of the old ones, but just playing this game with no prior knowlegde of it, it played rather well.

The whole town/shops layout is a disapointment, and the fact that there is no online sucks also. But besides thoese 2 things it's still great Phantasy Star Gameplay. The graphics are good, you have AI partners, it's still fun. Granted some people might not like it...but many others don;t like the past Phantasy Star games...

I think that this mission-type games are a good fit for the psp.. Its one of the reasons I enjoyed crisis core a lot, u could just turn the system and play one or two missions in 'bout 10 min or less, save it and then move on.. lol.

As you should, don't allow post from some posters to determine what games you purchase. If you intended on getting Phantasy Star...by all means get it.

I like it. I never played PSU so I guess I don't know what I'm missing. Vivienne is annoying but that's what the start button is for. The static menus outside of missions isn't too bad; frankly it beats running back and forth throughout towns with static NPCs that always walked right in front of you while you were running (like in PSO for Gamecube). I found the gameplay enjoyable and ad hoc multiplayer isn't a horrible thing. A friend of mine is planning to pick the game up as well and we're going to go dungeon diving together. It is regrettable that you can't exchange weapons or armor with other players but I think it may still be good fun for a while. I like the customization.

I haven't played other Phantasy Star games, I don't play online and I like it. I like action RPGs and I like how this one plays. Definitely worth trying if you like action RPGs I think.

Phantasy Star Portable should be compared to Phantasy Star Zero, not the PS3 or 360 versions. It makes no sense to do that.

Let's just say that the only thing that the PSP version of PS has over the DS version is graphics. After looking into it a little, even gameplay in Phantasy Star 0 is better.
