Well it's a tough choice for me since the 60GB is now no long in production. And I was wondering if I should just purchase the 60GB PS3 since it's price recently dropped and it has the Emotion Engine which plays about all of the PS2 games or should I wait for a standalone 80GB model of the PS3 which is probably going to cost $499 when it's announced and take the 60GB model's place. And I heard the 80GB uses the Emulator Engine which isn't able to play all the PS2 games. Is that true, and what do you recommend? Purchase the 60GB or wait until a standalone 80GB PS3 comes out and get that instead?

if you are waiting for the 80gb to be $499 you might as well go ahead and get the 60gb ps3 now because they 80gb system won't drop in price until next year. you should go ahead and make your decision fast though while you can still get 5 free blu rays with the purchase of a ps3.

do you have any proof it won't drop until next year. everybody is saying it will drop once the 60gb is completly sold out.

We don't know if there will be a standalone 80GB in the future. It's all speculation. Better get the 60GB that is available now.

you know, if you can't wait, you can buy the 499 60gb now, then always upgrage the harddrive later. there you go... standalone 80gb, 120gb, 250gb etc.

You could buy the $499 60GB and buy a 320GB harddrive for it for about $80.

yeah, 20 GB is no special thing since you can connect exterior harddrives. That's the smart thing todo.
