So i was thinking about getting a PS3 but is it really necessary to buy a 320GB one or is a 160 enough?
How much space would a save of say... CoD:BO take?

Get the 160GB. You can use that $50 that the 320GB model would cost you, and buy a bigger HDD. If you're planning on putting music, movies, and a ton of games on your PS3 then I say you'll need more space. If you're just planning on playing games and not storing too much else on the HDD, 160GB will be so much more space than you'll need. You can check out newegg.com for "laptop HDD" these are what fits the PS3. You can most likely find a 500GB HDD for around $50. I have an 80GB model PS3, and I still have about 30GB left on it. That's with no music, or movies... just games, demos, and the occassional video on it.So i was thinking about getting a PS3 but is it really necessary to buy a 320GB one or is a 160 enough?

Well, for starters it's $100 more than the 160GB model. TC is asking if he should get the 160GB or the 320GB... $50 difference in price. Why spend $50 more to get 160 more GB of HDD when you can spend $50 and get 340 more GB of HDD? My logic is sound here... more bang for your buck. Purchasing the PS Move is irrelevant to the OP.So i was thinking about getting a PS3 but is it really necessary to buy a 320GB one or is a 160 enough?

well TS, if you want to get the move controller then the 320 gig move bundle sounds like a good idea. if you dont really care for move then get the 160gig. Now assumeing you get the 160, you can get a 320 gig hdd from say newegg.com for around the 50$ mark. as far as weather 160 gig is enough that just depends on the amount of retail games you get that needs installs "some are in the 5 gig area", how many psn games/moves/dlc you get, how much music you install ect. for the avr user that is not planning to get a lot of psn games/movies ect and who is not buying new retail games every other day or week the 160 should be just fine. remember that you can always delete old game installs to make room. game saves take up little space most of the time so thats almost a nonfactor. Also demos are no problem because most likely you will not be keeping them on your HDD for long periods of time. how ever if your going to be buying lots movies, psn games, installing tons of music, home videos ect ect then i would say just go ahead and opt for a 320 gig HDD from new egg asap. that way you dont have to fool around later with transfering data from your old HDD. IF you get a bigger HDD to replace the one in the 160 gig ps3 i highly recommend you get western digitel brand. also stick with the standerd speed HDD.
savefiles take up virtually no space, we're talking about MB's here..so no worries there..its the actual gamedata (game installs) that take up the most space...but you can always deleate those if you stopped playing the game so 160 should be more than enough, but the more the better ofcourse...with a 320 gig you can just leave some more games installed (so you don't always have to reinstall them if you decide to play them again a year later) but 160 gigs is more than plenty already...i got both a 160 gig and 320 gig and most of the space is still available...but then again i dont put any crap on my ps3 like porn or vids or pictures, stricktly games..
160 gigs is more than enough- I only started worrying about space on my 80 gig a year after release (constantly downloading demos and installing games).
160 gb does not have a blu Ray player that's why it comes with more memory, so if your don't mind not having a blu Ray player go for it.chizzim007
Are you on Crack??? All PS3's have blu-ray players because all PS3 games are on Blu Ray.
