Hello, I was wondering if It's better to just use my PS2 Slim for my PS1 and PS2 games instead of my PS3 (80gb) model. I know it can play 80-90% of PS2 games, but is the quality there? I could hook my PS2 up side by side with my PS3 no problem, however I do like how you can make memory cards on your PS3.

If it works, go with PS3. I just use my PS3 (60 gig) for my PS2 games.

Outside of Metal Gear Soild which I know works, does the PS3 support a lot of the PS1 games?

As far as I know. I only own 2 though. But the last I've heard, my 60 gig model supports pretty much all of them. So I'm not sure about the 80 gig. But I would imagine so. It's the newer models that they're cutting BC support for.

I'm glad I got mine in 2007 then. I heard the new 80gig's don't have BC.

The 80 GB have BC. It's software BC though. The original 60 GB and 20 GB have hardware BC.

I am glad to have my 60 GB. The anti-aliasing and resolution upgrading features allow my PS1 and PS2 games to look good on my HDTVs. I don't think I could ever part with it.

Here you go.Just select the version of the console you have[60 or 80gig]and then type in the PS1 or PS2 title that you need to know.It will show you if the game has any problem running on that particular system.

i would say ps2 because all optic media products have short lifespan. average 50000 readings and then they start to not be able to read your discs so i would say dont waste your ps3's lens' lifespan with ps2 games, play them on ps2 if you have one
