Would you say that it is easy to enjoy and become invested in the story/gameplay of Ratchet and Clank, even if I never played any of the previous games? Also, if I don't pick up the downloadable title Quest for Booty, will I be able to understand the gap in between ToD and Crack in Time? Just wondering because those two are pretty cheap right now, so picking them both up sounds like a good plan, as long as they will be easy to enjoy for an outsider.

I hadn't played R&C since the first, until ACiT. Crack does a good job of getting you up to date with what's occurred in the story in the opening minutes. I am not sure about the other parts of the OP, but I would say you would have a great time just jumping in anywhere, they're great games.

You'll get the gist of the back story with ACiT. Enjoy.

Tools of Destruction's story is rather mediocre, and so is the game. Just skip it. A Crack in Time on the other hand, is fantastic, and has some good storytelling as welll. They also keep you up to date on the story so far.

You don't need to play The Quest for Booty or what ever the downloadable game is. When you play A Crack in Time, there is a little recap of the other two games I belive.

You can start with Tools. Both are great games that I enjoyed immensely. I never got around to play Quest for Booty, even though I'm a huge R&C fan, because 15 dollars just sounds a mite too expensive. If they lowered it to 10 I would snap it up immediately.

Answer to both questions is Yes...you can pick up with TOD and not feel like you needed to play the PS2 games. You can also skip Quest for Booty and be just fine for CiT. QfB wasnt any good if you asked me. I felt ripped off paying $15 for it.

I thought they all did pretty good of explaining the story in each game. Nothing to really worry about thats not mention. I mean you really dont need to play any of the the previous to every play any current R&C.

Yeah they're good games to play...it doesn't matter if you haven't played the first. Just stay far, far away from A4O
