I already tried: Gran T 4; FFIV dirge of cerberus ; fifa ; digimon W 4; god of war...omg ahhh, but ps1 are working fine and with perfect graphics.

My ps3 modelnumber is: CECHP04

What was the PS3 originally? 20gb, 40gb, 60gb or 80gb? Is it an old or new console?

None of your PS2 games will work, sorry if you thought otherwise. Read the fine print on your PS3 specs.

The only PS3's that have "proper" backwards compatibility are the older 60gb ones as far as I know, so unless you could swap your PS3 for one of those, you'll be stuck with what you've got I'm afraid.

The reason PS3 has so much memory is because PS3 games are a lot bigger than PSP games.... to install a collection of PS3 games you're going to need a ton of space, and that's before you've added all the other stuff like downloaded extra content, music, films etc etc.

If your system is one of the newer 80 GB systems (after the MGS4 bundles) you will not be able to play PS2 games, period. The software emulation Sony used was removed from them. They are basically the 40 GB system with a larger hard drive inside. Here's the breakdown of how the PS2 playback worked through the North American systems (as my memory serves, feel free to correct me where necessary):

20 GB, 60 GB (original launch models): actual PS2 chipset inside, near-full BC

original 80 GB, Motorstorm bundle, MGS4 bundle: software emulation, partial BC

40 GB, current core 80 GB: No PS2 playback, emulation removed.

All of the systems will play the PSOne games, they have the emulation done in the PS3 hardware/ software itself. If they ever do decide to bring back PS2 playback it likely won't be until they start offering PS2 downloads in the store (which i'm not holding my breath on).

This is, indeed, the case. TC, you should have done your research before taking the plunge. If this is a major problem for you, and you really have no other desire to own a PS3, return it and buy a new PS2. You can also search eBay or craigslist for the older models. I'm actually surprised Sony supported BC as long as they did. Look at the 360's pathetic BC support. These machines cost too much to manufacture, so anywhere they can cut costs, they do.
