Playstation 3 closing in on 30 million units sold

In Sony's financial report for the fiscal year of 2008-2009, they revealed that that they have sold 29.18 million units of the Playstation 3 since the fiscal year of 2006 when the system launched.

Here is a breakdown of the first three fiscal years of the Playstation 3 life span:

2006-2007: 9.12 million units sold
2007-2008: 10 million units
2008-2009: 10.06 million units sold

Furthermore, Sony is also forecasting that the Playstation 3 will sell 13 million units in the 2009-2010 fiscal year. The big increase in expectation may stem from a price drop announcement for the Playstation 3 sometime in the near future.

link is boken, and I think you have mixed up the numbers a bit. They sold 10 million PS3 in 2008, true. They have also sold 10 million in their fiscal year, which seems to also be true. But 2008 and their fiscal year are overlapping each other, wich means they may only have sold 2-3 million in 2009 so far. Then the PS3 is around 24-25 million I guess.

if the TC's figures are correct the magic they used was to add 10.06+10+ 9.12 = 29.18 million. omg what is that magic.?! this is good news for the ps3 :D lots of ppl = more games = more fun :D u gotta love maths hehedaveydag

according to this link, the PS3 was at 16,85 million in September of 2008. There's no way Sony sold ~14 million in 8 months.

It's fake. Bad translation or something. Sony confirmed that it is 23 million with expectiong to sell 13 million more in this fiscal year....which means price cut at some point.

It's 23 million as of March 31, 2009 But I'd still take that.(It's enough to keep the PS3 afloat.) but if they don't cut the price $100-$150 soon they could find themselves making up stories, like M$ says they fixed the RROD.
