Well, when you buy the 80gb, you get a free copy of motorstorm, so I say wait.MagMower
if he waits, he may have to pay the entire $600 for the 80GB PS3. If he exchanges now, he will only have to pay $100 for the 60GB PS3 and he can buy MotorStorm if he wants it.
Get it now. The 80gb will not have the emotion engine so there may be bugs with the new system with backwards compatibility. Also, there really isn't that much of a difference in the two systems besides 20gig more and motorstorm for $100 more. You could go and buy a used copy of motorstorm and a 120gb hd if you really think you need it and still be less then the new system. Plus, you never know how long BB will offer you that deal to exchange your old system.
So, go get it today. :)
Man, /ps3 is sooooooooooooooo great!!!!
don't wait anymore!!! you have lost too many time on the 360.... exchange it now for a brand new PS3
I've been breaking my head so damn hard over this.
In terms of risk vs reward, do you guys think that the extra 20 GB is worth risking the deal? My heart loudly screams no, but my mind is ablaze with speculation.

I don't think it's worth the deal(and it's not really a "deal"). I choose to buy a PS3 yesterday rather than waiting. The 80GB PS3 doesn't have the hardware emulation for PS1 and PS2 games, but it isn't going to make much of a difference. The software is getting closer and closer to where the hardware emulation is.
You could get the PS3 now, and go buy a 120GB or 160GB HDD for $100-$120 and swap it into the PS3 and have way more space than the 80GB would.

No need to break your head over this. Go out and get a PS3 today. The 60 gb is plenty large and honestly 20gb isn't going to make that much of a difference for you. Look at the votes, and then listen to the 99% of us here. Would you rather be playing Oblivion now? or in mid/late august?

I would tell him to wait to get the GOTY Oblivion. The PS3 version of Oblivion doesn't contain the second downloadable content(can't remember the name), and there's no telling if it will ever be downloadable. So if he wants that, then he would need to get the GOTY version.

Man, I visit Oblivion's official forum just about everyday. You have no idea how horrible it is to read the experiences people are having & not be able to enjoy/experience them yourself anymore. RPG's have always been a huge part of my life since Final Fantasy on the NES. And I truly believe Oblivion to be the epiphany that conquers them all!

I haven't given this any thought. Thanks for opening my eyes, man. Seriously. I really appreciate it.
if you do decide to put in a new HDD, here are some options. just bookmark them.
120GB - $70
160GB - $90
250GB - $190
The 80gb harddrive isn't the reason to get that unit. The one and only reason would be that there will probably be a difference to the bluetooth in that box. It isn't like Sony is going to announce anything, because that would piss of people that bought the 60gb early. However, the FCC filings that Sony did a few months back were due to the bluetooth difference - you guys remember when lots of you said a 80gb would never happen and others were saying they would do a price drop and sell the 80gb for $599........
With all that said - If I had the xbox and didn't play it much and rather would have a PS3 I would go for the $100 deal now. If you want to have both systems - get the 80gb later

Is this only north america?
currently, yes.
Get the ps3 right now!!!! so u can make some use of the X360 =P and then get the game, if u wait till the 80gb you may risk the offer that best buy have
make a poll!!!!
I think getting the PS3 now would be better for you.
You can always upgrade your hdd and can I ask do you want Motorstorm?
If they would give you a PS3 for an extra 100 then they would give you a 80gb one for 200 then?
You could always trade in games.
I bought the cursed Xbox 360 a little over a year ago for the sole purpose of playing Oblivion. The 360 rendered my copy of the game useless by the way of a perfect circular scratch. Read this story for further details: http://www.miamiherald.com/884/story/165491.htm
Best Buy (though for how long I don't know) has now given me the opportunity to exchange the 360 for a PS3. So, rather than paying the full cost of the system, I only need to shell out an additional $100 to cover the difference in price. But now Sony has announced an 80 GB version of the system for August & Bethesda has announced a Game of the Year edition of Oblivion for September. My dilemma is: Should I hold off & get the 80 GB PS3? Or, wait for the new PS3 & the new version of Oblivion in all its console glory?
I've been debating this for the past 24 hours & I'd really appreciate some feedback from fellow owners of the PlayStation 3.Neo1O1
Get it now. You don't know when Best Buy will take back that deal. Also, check out my blog for more great Best Buy stories. I love that store.
