Good day to you all,
I just purchased a 40GB PlayStation 3 along with Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Resistance: The Fall of Man and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I don't have a complaint with the console, more just a concern. I noticed with Uncharted the disk will speed up to read data I presume, then in less than a second drop back down to almost being silent, then it will become louder, again like it's reading more data, then go quiet again. It's like it's reading the disk for about a second or so, then just cutting off, then resuming. The game itself plays fine, as do all my other games. I am just wondering if this is normal and should it be a thing of concern. The other 3 games I have it doesn't SEEM to do it on which strengthens my theory on it being just Uncharted, but the game itself brand new. I have already returned one Playstation 3 on the same basis (I work in GAME - retail shop in the UK) and apparently it's not really common. I am wondering if it is just the game or should I just ignore it. The loading times seem 'normal' I guess but it's just worrying to hear it speed up, then down, then up again. I had a similar issue on my PC and it was just the DVD drive was too slow to read data quick enough. Now obviously all the PlayStation 3's are fitted with Blu Ray drives but it is just as I say, worrying. Hopefully somone on here can put my mind at rest. I am hoping it is just the game (which by the way is phenominal). I do notice that Uncharted does use Streaming Technology - loading in textures on the fly so it is always accessing the disk but I would just assume the disk would be the same noise throughout.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you for your time,
Jack.
