Got that from a very reliable source called www.vgchartz.com a little behind in figures but the most up to date you can find. So 10 mill looks very likely and is very good buisness for a console out for 16 months!!

So coming out a year later and only being behind by a little over 7 mil (according to THAT website) IS pretty damn good. Plus, after MGS4, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Tekken, Home, etc., etc. this year those numbers are going to get even better. What I want to know is is that number shipped or sold because as far as I know, MS still reports shipped numbers.

So why is Sony targeting 9.5million units by the end of their fiscal year then?? Are they understating figures to make a greater impact...? Well, we'll see by the end of March...

The difference is the vg charts figures are consoles shipped to retail by sony. While sony's 11 million figure is actual consoles sold to customers.

So by reducing to 9.5 they have a much more achievable goal.

360 had a years head start over PS3.
360 came out with no next-gen competition.
360 sold 10million in its first year

PS3 came out with 2 other next-gen consoles as competitors (360 and Wii)

Not to mention the lackluster selection of launch exclusives. Say what you will about Resistance, it's not a system seller. And it's also not to mention that it cost $200 more than it's competition, y'know? With the new price drop, and 2008's exclusives, the PS3 is going to dominate this year. I think that 360 console sales have hit critical mass.

As I said before the PS3 just doesn't have enough games to sell the console on a Microsoft and Nintendo basis. Software pushes hardware sales. And with all the PS3 games getting delayed it's gonna take Sony a heck of a long time to keep up sales wide with competitors. MGS4 can't come fast enough for Sony! That's when i'll get me a PS3 again.

still got two months to be a full year in Europe also think that means it out sold even the ps2 in that time frame considering all the fire Sony have taken

VGC has them around 10 million as well. PS3 is closing it's gap on 360. Last summer it had sold 40% as many as 360 and now it has sold 60% as many.
