Hi. I have a new pc monitor (LG L204WS) and i like to connect my Playstation 3 on it. The monitor have a D-sub port and it has HDCP protocol on it. I took one hdmi 2 dvi cable and a dvi to D-sub adaptor. The thing is that i cant wach anything when i am opening my Playstation 3. I don't know what else to do since i am not too familiar with those kind of things. Can anyone please help me out? I know that much of you people have done it. Please tell me what am i doing wrong. Thank you in advance :)

1st thing is you prob not seeing anything as the ps3 would need to be set to hdmi for display setttings.

Next thing you need to make sure the monitor is then put on digital signal so that you will see display from the dvi connection.

how many plugs are there on your monitor.. like DVI, VGA, etc.
whats there :x
cause if there's more.. there should be a way to set the input of your monitor to where your ps3 is plugged in (which should be a dvi or hdmi port)

Yeah my monitor has a button to switch between analogue and digital input.

On the monitor do you have 5 or so buttons on the bottom right corner?

I think a vga-box would be your best choice.

I think a hdmi-dvi-converter too dvi-vga-converter just won't work.

but hdmi dvi should work.. .. ( i would know, i'm using one) but its dsub.. i'm confused how it says HDCP.. but vga plug can't produce digital output.. atleast i don' think so.. and dsub looks like vga to me :/

You're not getting your PS3 plugged into that.

How does the X2VGA output 1080p? I thought component couldn't output 1080p.

I "think" your monitor is fine. I think you should try to hold the power-button of the ps3 for like 5 seconds till you hear some peeps, your ps3 must be conected to the monitor when you do this. Good luck
