I am in a similar delimna. My understand is that the quality of the picture with a stand alone player is better than a do it all PS3. I am wanting to get into Blu-ray since the studios are still doing what is in "my best interest".
I already have a 360 for gaming, most of mine is done on the PC anyway. So this thread will be interesting to watch.
I already have a ps3 with download content and everything on it. I would like to get another blu ray player for my bed room. I thought long and hard( that's what she said) about it and I picked between a 40 gig ps3 or the panasonic 30k. I am leaning towards the ps3 just because it is a 100 bucks cheaper and it can do more. I just want to know if i get it will i be able to have the same PSN ID and will all my stats still be on the new ps3. I also have download games like warhawk and calling all cars on my current one and was wondering if those and be on the new one as well. thanksrcm2188
What other equipment are you running that your new Blu Ray player would be working on? The PS3 is probably right up there for the best Blu Ray player but the Panny may edge it out. It is my understanding that the Panny produces a better picture on larger screens. Add the fact that sadly, the debacle over PS3 not truly being HDMI 1.3 @ full spec prettymuch meanw we may never get a firmware update to give us DTS HD MA and bitstreaming lossless audio isn't going to happen. This is reason enough for me to dump my PS3 and grab an awesome stand alone depending on future scenerios. (Games I have interest in, Full Rumble Support, better online capabilies or rather better compatibility with my DIR 655, DTS HD MA audio support, finally option to bitstream all audio for my Onkyo to work with.) Otherwise, I have no need for it since I bought it to play Blu Rays not games.
just a sony 40v2500 and then i would connect with a hdmi.rcm2188
Grab the PS3. You are not taking anyadvantage of the Stand Alone and paying more. Only nasty quirk to worry about is the fact that the fools at Sony forgot to add an IR port. So much for the home Theater buffs who only own 1 extremely nice remote. I can not even imagine how many sales were lost because of this reason alone.
BTW, I heardWalmart was having some type of "Secret Sale"comingup soon with PS3 and alot of Blu Rays. They had one already that included 10 Blu Rays but another is expected. See www.slickdeals.net for more info.
As stated above there are discussions abote PS3 be fully capable of proper audio, but it isn't a closed case as far as I understand. One other thing is that once something else comes up the PS3 is going to be more updatable than any other standalone player. I also doubt that you are going to have the super-high end receiver, 5.1 sound system in the bedroom...
[QUOTE="Space-Q"]ps3 in the bedroom is a bad idea...leave that room for other pleasures.K-E316i got my ps3 in my room and its really good since nobody will ever come and say "i wanna watch tv now". whats the problem?
I remember when I was that young and innocent....
I think the second PS3 would be a good add on to your TV in the bedroom. As for remotes and controllers I think the only ones that will work on a single PS3 is the one that's registered to a single PS3. Each Blu-Tooth device has to be registered to a single console before it will work, so does the PSP, the PS3 and PSP has to be connected via the USB cable and set-up before the remote play will workjimm895
Yeah, when I got my second controller I freaked out and thought it didn't work, but then realised I had to register it or whatever by using the usb cord.,,
