Today I went to play a Infamous on my PS3, I put the disk in and nothing happened. The system just doesn't appear to be recognising that there is a disk in it. It will read movies (dvds, not sure about blu rays). But not games. I put a bunch of different games in and nothing worked. What I was wondering, was is there a way to back up all of my saved games. I went to Gamestop and they told me there is no memory card for the PS3. I can probably get the system working again, but it might be at the cost of losing all of my saved files. Is there something else I can do? Any help would be much appreciated.

You can use a USB thumb drive. The PS3 really doesn;t need a memory card anyway. The nice thing is any thumb drive will work for backing things up on your PS3.

You can copy your saves for other files like musics, videos, pictures to any removeable disc. Just choose what you want to copy, press triangle button than copy it. Notice: some certain saves are not allowed to copy because game developer made that way to avoid cheating. For example, Demon's Souls's save cannot be copied.

I had a similar problem with mine, if your playstation cant read your game it wont read blue ray disc because game are blue ray disc. So your problem may come from the blue ray itself, sadly it might be broken. I hope not.

Call Sony tech support. Basicaly they will ask you to do this, you can even do it by yourself but if it doesnt work and you called them they will ask you to do it again, basic procedur, so your better calling them.

After that if it doesnt work they will ask you to send them your unit, if you still have a warenty there will be no charge at all and it will take a few days before you get your PS3 back.

Good luck.

It's most likely a broken lens unfortunately (happened to me). Luckily though it's an easy fix. $60 will get you a new lens and there are tutorials online to help you replace it. Takes about 30 minutes. If it's under warranty of course you should send it in.
