Actually M$ is the riches one of them all. That's why they're able to buy out people. Well mostly due to the PC Market. It's the reason why Bill Gates is a few trillion dollars.

I don't think this is Sony's last console. If that whole 4 thing is true (I personally don't know about it) then I would imagine Sony might go quadrents since Microsoft is going by degrees of rotation.

That is the stupidest comment I have heard recently. "Really hard to top this with more technology"- There is a reason we are not still just playing pong. Then again, it is perfectly reasonable to say that man has reached the pinnacle of technology and what man can accomplish by creating the PS3. We all might as well give up...close the patent office again.

I did read an interveiw about 6 months ago with the President of SCEA and he said that SONY is considering pulling out of the hardware market and just focussing on software in the future.

Now you have FOUR cores on one chip. 5 years ago the Iphone was unimaginable. THEN you must take into account that SONY has a patent on a direct brain interface for gaming that they are testing and plan on implementing in the future. I got slapped on the hand by a mod last time I posted this - as they said it was not PS related (I disagree - and hope they understand this time around). Anyway if this technology takes off and is successful - there will be absolutely nothing like it on the market - as there will be no monitor - the console will transport your mind into the game via an ultrasonic strobe neural interface. It is my belief that the PlayStation 3 is SONY's attempt at an all-round multimedia machine that does a little bit of everything and ultimately helps to network SONY products.

There is no way that this is the end of the line for the PlayStation brand. In fact, one could argue that Xbox will end before PlayStation does. Simply for the reason that Microsoft's gaming division has posted quarterly losses for 6 straight years. Not once has Microsoft's Entertainment division posted a profit. You may argue that Bill Gates has plenty of money to burn (which he does), but that doesn't refute the argument that there are millions of shareholders to please. You can't just take a $2 billion loss and write it off as nothing. It just doesn't work that way.

PlayStation and video games are the same thing in many parts of the world. I can envision Microsoft winning the console war in America, but I don't envision it winning the overall console war. Nobody in Asia, comparitively speaking, buys Xbox. A lot more people in Europe buy PlayStation.

It is interesting to see how Warhawk will be using PS3's as their game servers. I read a Financial Times article quoting SONY CEO Howard Stringer as saying that he envisions PlayStation 3 to be a platform that could be a world wide networking hub. Basically, he expects the PS3 to help create a fully global network from which SONY could leverage its mass amount of media services. That is one thing that SONY has the upperhand on Microsoft. Microsoft doesn't have music and movie studios. They don't create good hardware.

SONY is a hardware company first and foremost. They are a hardware company with a reputation of making high quality products. Go look up research on consumer brands that are most highly linked with quality. SONY is tops. SONY also benefits from very strong customer loyalty.

yeah they do make very high quality products. I have a sony tv and stero from 1989 and they still work to this day. I use this sound system almost everyday with my ps3 and it still works flawlessly
