Nooo, well to play music while playing games like on the 360, would mean that the music you play from your ps3 hard drive would overplay over the regular game music, for example, if your playing a racing game, and you play your music from your hard drive, you wouldnt hear the IN Game effects, like..tires screaching, the car engine, stuff like that. Now it would be up to the devs, if they wanted to add custom tracks. What that would do is replace the music in the game so that you can hear, the tires screaching, and the engine of the car. Its a differenceÂ

however that's not to be confused with custom soundtracks which is up the devs. which has an in-game option to play music from the HDD. So when it would normally play their music, you can play your music. Games like Def Jam: Icon on the 360 have this feature, so hopefully soon it will come to the ps3 as well eventually.Â
