Does anyone else thinks the Playstation TV sucks??

I got it a few days ago, and was excited to finally play my Vita games in the big TV just to find out that only 2 of the 10 games I have are compatible with the thing....

Also tried streaming my PS4 in a different TV to also find out that the link was terribly lagged and broken, and the audio was pathetic as well.

The PS now still feels expensive, a rental of $19 bucks for 90 days for a game released on 2010 that probably cost the same as buying it new... and the selection of games is still so scarce...

And also the resolution seemed terrible too, I know they said it was gonna be 720p max but if feels it's even less than that....

I'm returning this thing to Best Buy hope I get my money back....

And you are surprised by this? PS TV seems completely useless to me...just like PS Move and PS Now. Swing and a miss with this.

Wow, thats terrible to hear. I can't believe it, they made such a big deal about it. I wonder if there is some other type of issue ? Can't wait to hear more reviews about it. Thanks for sharing.

Your internet has nothing to do with streaming, its your router's job, you probably don't even know what model it is, so that's your problem, no-one else.

when i found out that uncharted and gravity rush weren't supported it killed any interest I had in this thing. why they wouldn't want to have two of vita's biggest games on the system is beyond me

Sony is about money and anything we want we don't get, in regards to PlayStation now etc. Just look at the fact the new firmware still want have mp3 from our own music files. We have waited a YR for the stuff they promise to give toys advert still can't get everything we want, just what they feel like giving us.

I am aware that you can port music from USB but I also would like to copy mp3/4 music on files onto my ps4. Mentality is why not give everything now? I suspect we may never get everything we hqve asked I'd it doesn't benefit Sony somehow.

I was interested at first in this thing, but as I did more research I realized it wasn't for me. Glad I cancelled my order as it seems it's not all that great.

Yes, I apologize for the misunderstanding up there, but still the router is not the problem I already confirmed that, and is not just my problem I already received a lot of comments from people experiencing the same issue.

Swipe screen games are having difficulty converting to tv game. Amazon fire tv had same problem. Nexus player will also have same problem in future. The controls have to be re-done by game developer but they didnt know it would be made for tv as well. I would say like maybe 70% are compatible with tv after looking at the list. I'm sure sony is working with game developers to get the other games compatible in near future. I had to download a control configure app to get some screen swiping games working on rooted fire tv. Maybe sony can release a patch that would make the other games compatible.

I used it briefly at a friends place, and none of the problems you describe he has. Then again, he was using it wired, with a high-end router.

@GTR12: I'm also using a high end router but with WiFi. Probably this device wasn't meant for WiFi.

@Intocable: but I streamed some games from ps4 to my vita and they worked pretty good with my 4 year old net gear router. I would think even by wifi it would stream the same as the vita.

It's craptacular. Another rushed device or service launched by Sony that has their fanbbase beta testing them. The PS4 was rushed (it still can't play a CD or music/video/picture files of a USB device after almost a year) to market and had over 1/2 dozen issues within the first 3 months. How many remember BLOD, corrupted saves files, disks not ejecting from your PS4 and the system completely deleting your games while you slept? lol!! Then we get the PSNow, which is NOT in BETA. Beta is when you have a number of people testing the product before it goes public. PSNow is 100% public for everyone to download. Also, Beta does make you "spend money" to test it. When Sony decided to add fees to ALL the games on PSNow, Beta was over. The service is still crap. If you have a WiFi connection, don't even waste your time or money. Now we get PSTV, that launches with missing apps, poor wifi support and a large % of PSVita games that aren't even supports. WTF!?!? Why even launch it if you don't have Netflix, Amazon or Hulu Plus on it? There are even PS1 and PS3 games that don't work well with this thing. It's only real benefit and Remote play, but you have to have a wired network for it to work perfectly. What a joke.

@GTR12: Well, if you want specifics, it's a Motorola Surfboard Extreme SBG6782-AC, i'm not much of an IT guy, but it was the most expensive one I found.

I read also from other reviewing pages that they faced the same issue over WiFi, wired the streaming worked well, but with WiFi the results varied,

@AutoPilotOn: For some reason the PS4 streaming through WiFi in my Vita is much better than with the Playstation TV. Don't understand why that is....

I tried to return my PS TV, but Gamestop would not take it back. I suspected this (they have always had a horrid return policy) when I bought it, so not too upset. However, I have started to change my mind. I am liking the ability to play Vita and PSP games on the big screen. About 60% of my games play just fine, and was surprise how some of the games actually look rather good.

The remote play feature has not worked well on any of may larger budget PS4 games, but did work on "Dust". I hope that Sony fixes this issue, but since this device has been out for the past year in Japan I am not holding my breath. I am surprised that the Vita on Wifi works better with remote play than my PS4 to PS TV via Gig network.

TBH, that router isn't good, especially the wifi, its bad at long range.

The most expensive is not always the best either ;)

@GTR12:

Well, I guess it depends of what long range is, the router is located just on the very next room of where I have the PS4. If I run the WiFi Test connection speed in the PS TV I get between 20 and 30 mbps, which I think is good, and still I get horrible streaming. Even my Vita has better PS4 streaming than the PS TV over WiFi.

That's because your Vita connects directly to the PS4 (it bypasses the router) so it works better. The PS TV uses the router to connect to your home network, which then connects to devices.

They had one demoed at my Gamestop in NC and I agree with TC as far as image quality.

It looked terrible playing Vita games on the big screen, and they were using a smaller LCD tv.

The streaming was even worse

@SolidTy: Yeah, problem is, it has much less functionality than the actual Vita. The good news, I was able to return this little piece of paperweight and got my money back, :-)

Your internet has absolutely nothing to do with your home network streaming capabilities. Maybe you just have a shitty network? You need an extremely strong Wifi connection with no signal being used up on other things to stream games. It's not something that's easily done with less-than-great networks.
