3G means your constantly connected to the internet no matter where you are as long as your in a cell phone hotspot where 3g is covered. 3g also costs a monthly fee, and will be supplied by at&t.Awesome-Possuma thing to keep in mind: you can't game with 3G, only with wifi. the 3G is only for other functions. it really should have been 4G so they could do this. even if it meant that model would cost a little more.

I was didn't know that... In that case, I definitely have no plan on getting the 3G version. Paying that much money just for a few features like PSN and whatever random apps the PSV gets doesn't sound worth it to me.

thats why i've been trying to mention it whenever possible. and for the record i have nothing against the vita. i've already got my wi-fi model preordered :D[QUOTE="Awesome-Possum"]3G means your constantly connected to the internet no matter where you are as long as your in a cell phone hotspot where 3g is covered. 3g also costs a monthly fee, and will be supplied by at&t.starwarsjunkya thing to keep in mind: you can't game with 3G, only with wifi. the 3G is only for other functions. it really should have been 4G so they could do this. even if it meant that model would cost a little more. That really depends on your 3G signal. No, 3G isn't really sufficient enough to support online gaming in general, since it's quite intermittent(as I said, depending on your connection). It's likely though that developers will use 3G only for social gaming functions or asynchronous multiplayer. In the end, I doubt it's worth it.
3g means that you can connect via cellular network (with a data plan, it's not free). I plan to stick to the Wi-Fi since free Wi-Fi is pretty much everywhere.jordonjYou just saved me spending the extra $50.00 for the 3G version; thank you!

In the end, I doubt it's worth it. there was a sony rep who was showing off the vita(its posted on gamespot somewhere) who mentioned that 3G can't support it. even if it technically "works" i'm sure it would be laggy as hell and not worth even doing in the first place.
does anyone know wherei can find the company that will support the uk 3g ?mep69it hasn't been announced yet
can you upgrade the wifi model tp 3g?PSP107not unless you trade it in for store credit or something like that. its not gonna be a simple add-on.
I'd definitely go for the Wifi model, even if it was possible to play games online anywhere it still wouldn't be worth the $50 and then a monthly fee on top of it.
I like the idea of 3G, but not AT&T's GSM version. I'd prefer a CDMA carrier, such as Verizon, et. al.

It should have been made 4g, not 3g. 3G isn't fast enough for gaming. I too will be sticking to the Wi-Fi only version. I can go pretty much anywhere now days and find Wi-Fi.
In all honesty if you can't game online with the 3g, then why did they decide to go that route. I think most people would rather just use their phone for 3g if they really needed it. Can the PSV make phone calls? If it can, then it makes sense having 3g, but unless it can the 3g seems like a wasted feature that is not needed because it's usually a feature taken care by phones.
cross game chat would probably work with it. other than that as well as some other social uses and going to websites. other than that, i'm not really sure.In all honesty if you can't game online with the 3g, then why did they decide to go that route. Well, I'm definitely getting the wifi only model after starwarsjunky's posts clarifying what 3G would offer. Thanks for the helpful info!
3G is better for on-line So it really depends on how much your going to use the on-line features of PSvita. I have never used the on-line on my PSPs So I will be getting the standard wifi version.
If you use on line a lot then 3G is you best option.
totally agree.I'd definitely go for the Wifi model, even if it was possible to play games online anywhere it still wouldn't be worth the $50 and then a monthly fee on top of it.

4g isn't covered everywhere, so they'd probably lose money on making those models.
Like a person stated, I don't think Sony would go the 3g route if it wasn't sufficient enough for online gaming. We'll just have to wait for more details.
