they dont cost 600 in aus, slim retails for 499 , there 479 at Game. The warranty is fine, xbox didnt always have a 3 year warranty (and it only does now because of the RROD)

Why don't you apply that value for the money to a car? Is a 5 year warranty on a $35,000 piece of equipment fair in the scope things? Quit complaining.

I kinda agree, as a consumer, I wish 2 yrs warranty is the standard for all electronics

I keep the receipts of all big electronics I buy. Under British law, technically I have lifetime guarantee with the shop I bought it from. :P

I wouldn't put it past these forums if you have never owned a PS3. But that's just ol' sceptical me. :D

Honestly some of you kids need to respect your stuff more and understand mommy and daddy are not gonna buy you one every week you decide to break one. I mean some people here are on their 3rd PS3. I have had one for 2 years now and thankfully it works great. I also don't keep it on the floor and dust it every so often. To help keep it clean.

Well, if I have a look at your sig, it's no wonder everyone belives you're about 12 xD Anyway, back to topic. I have a 2 year warrenty from the shop I bought it which is more than enough. I did have some problems with my PS3, but Sony pretty fast fixed it the first time and replaced it the second time. IMO the service itself is good and one year is actually standard for electronics. I don't think that I will ever nid the 2nd year from the store ^^

1st that's like saying video games are for kids because my nic has dragon ball z which was made in the 80s-90s it presumably makes me a child. People need to grow up.

2nd i guess you have had a good service with customer support to which i found a bit disappointing, and when i asked for a supervisor they told me he left. what kind of supervisor does not supervise lol.

That's why when you as for supervisor you have to be like..

"If I ask for supverisor would I be put on hold for like 5 hours like last time, or will you actually help me."

works like charm.

Of corse it's stupid to say something like that, but whenever you take any anime or any Xs in you nick, there are a lot of guys who think you're a child :/ I couldn't care less if you're a child or not, because it has absolutely nothing to do with the topic. It really sounds strange if they tell you that there is no supervisor around o_O It really sucks if your PS3 broke outside of Sonys warrenty, but is there no additional warrenty from the store itself?

I dunno, you buy a $2,000 TV and it's got a 1 year warranty. It's no secret how long the warranty lasts, if you don't think that's long enough, you can buy from a store that offers an extended warranty. If the PS3 warranty is crap, then so are all warranties.

I never have seen a warranty beyond 1 year on any electronics. When M$ gave there system a 3 year warranty it was because of very high failure rates that something was needed before there was class action law suit.

Ah yes, I sort of agree. 12 month is fairly standard, but my PS3 died 13 months after I bought it. So I got screwed.

It wasn't long ago the standard was 90 days. The only reason it was bumped up to a year was because the 3 year warranty for the competitor's offering was thought of as a good thing.

TC, if you are Australian, you should be aware that we are covered by a lifetime warranty on all goods, as long as the default is because of them and not you. So buying extended warranty is pretty much useless as we have laws to protect our rights in purchasing consumer goods. Here's an article someone pointed out a while a go, and the ACCC site.

Honestly, some of these so called adults need to stop stereo typing, and while their at it, not treat their PS3 like a baby. I mean, some people here reguarly check to make sure ther PS3s are still breathing. I've had mine since a month before release, and thankfully it works great. I also keep it on the floor, under, currently, a pair of shorts to which I have no idea how they got their. I also haven't dusted it, cleaned it, touched any part of it which isn't the eject and power button. Sure I respect it. I don't tuck it in at night and hoover every vent 3 times a day though. i don't high five it or whatever you call the knuckle to knuckle 'respect'. Respecting something doesn't mean you literally have to set your life around it. You just have to remember it cost a lot.

TC is right, 1 year warranty is crap. If something breaks from normal use it should be covered. Ex. YLOD is a well known problem so no matter what it should be covered, not like it was dropped or something

That's the standard for an electronic product. Take that from someone who knows what he's talking about when it comes to this kinda thing.

I can understand where people are coming from with the 1 year warranty dislikes, but what I hear more complaints about it the fact you have to have a reciept to get it fixed. I mean I lose reciepts all the time, mayb I shouldn't but still. I mean they all have different serial numbers right? Why not use that?

Don't get me wrong I love SONY but I hear complaints about the warranty constantly from consumers. But for maybe 20 bucks more you can get an extended warranty with the store you purchased the system form, if they support such a thing, like Best Buy for example.

Are you thinking or expecting for life time warranty..?There is no such electronics which gives you life time warranty.
