Hey guys, I'm new to Gamespot and i've heard the community is fantastic on here.

I've just pre-ordered my PS3 over here in the UK, and my tv is a HD READY TV and does allow HDCP, but it works through DVI.

I believe you can purchase a HDMI TO DVI cable, but what would I do about the sound?

Would I just need a PS3 Component Sound Cable and run it from the ps3 to my TV into the coloured ports?

I really need advice guys, I'm VERY worried.

Thanks.

I guess you could just do that, unless your tv or surround sound system has an optical input, that would be the best sound connection.

Nope, it does not optical input, but it does have the Red and White Audio cables, I'm sure it should work fine. I'm not too bothered about sound, as long as I can hear. I'm just worried about the picture! But are you sure this component cable with work?

For sound you would use an optical cable (Toslink) that would connect to an Audio Receiver. The other option is use the cable that comes with the PS3 for Sound. In the PS3 menu you would set the Video to HDMI and for audio you would set it Multi so it redirects the audio out to the multi connector cables. Since your TV only has DVI there should be two audio jacks (White and Red) right below the DVI input. Plug the multi cable in there and leave the yellow hang or plug into a yellow jack to prevent interence.

Currently, for sound, I'm using the Logitech X-530 5.1 speaker set I got a week ago. Normally it's for PC, but it comes with an adaptor that lets you plug the PC inputs on one side, and on the other side are points to attach the Red and White cables. I plan to use it when I connect my PS3 via DVI when I get it in March. I also use it for my Wii, DVD player and STB. Gotta love it.

Yeah thats true, my TV does have White and Red Audio Ports next to the DVI slot, so I think all will be good. Thanks alot guys!
