1. I wanted to ask that is there a specific region playstation 3? like NTSC or PAL ? or are the games region based? How does this work?

2. Secondly if i buy a playstation in some other country can i still play with my friends in the US ? And whats the connection speed that runs the games perfectly online?

1. ps3 games have no region lock so you basically play ps3 games from japan but for ps2 and ps1 games thats a different matter 2. depends on the developer if they want it all regions or region specific.

1) There's no region lock for PS3 Blu-ray game so you could import game without worrying but in the other hand Blu-ray movie does have region lock. 2) It depends if the game let you choose the server you want to play in when you play online. I don't really know what's the perfect connection speed to play smoothly online but ADSL connection should be fine.
