My PSP has a really annoying problem, i've searched the internet and come up with nothing so im hoping someone here might be able to help before i completely give up on it!!!

Basically it wont update, the system softerware says version 3.10 OE-A'

Ive tried to update it off the UMD with transformers and finalfantasy tactics and I just get the message = The game could not be started. (DADADADA)

Ive tried downloading the latest update wirelessly. It downloads fine but will not install, I just get the above error.

Another weird thing is when i restore default settings, it restarts but everything is the same, I cant even get rid of the theme like its supposed to.

Ive tried formating the memory stick, tried a different stick and no stick so its not that.

BTW its a UK PSP model no. PSP1003

Any ideas, or things i can try.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

umm... isn't that a custom firmware? Bet that's why it won't update.

anyway, being that it's stickyed that this type of talk isn't permitted.... you are just going to have to do a search for 3.10 OE-A on your own.... and find instructions that way, on how to remove it.

Did you buy your PSP used or something????

Yes my PSP was used, Im not interested in anything thats not permitted or grey areas, I just want to get it back to normal to play finalfantasy tactics which I have bought recently.

Edited to ask. How do you tell if a PSP has custom firmware, for future reference?

Head over to the pspupdates.qj.net forums and ask their... they have extensive guides that will help you. Or you could go back to the seller and complain and they would fix it for you.

It has custom firmware usually if their is anything written before or after the system software version (usually, but this can be hidden)

If the PSP is not pluged into a power source and the battery isn't charged it will not update at all. Also if there is some pirated software on it then this could be blocking the update as well (reason something like this is always a gamble when buying used).

Since you do have CFW, that's why it probably won't update or let you play the games.

Go back and return it, if you can and tell them it was modded. You might even get some compensation for the trouble.
