Is there any way to play ps2/1 games on the ps3?

Is it a good time to buy now?, 80gb + killzone2 is (aus) $635?

If i buy a 40gb model, cant i just upgrade the gb myself, will it be the same as the 80gb model>?

  1. Well lets see here.ALL PS3 models play PS1 games but only the 20,60 and original 80 gig can play PS1 and PS2 titles. All of the newer PS3s can NOT play PS2 titles.
  2. I say wait until tues to see if Sony announces a Price drop. There have been heavy rumors that it will happen very soon
  3. Yes,aslong as the harddrive is a certain type you can upgrade it yourself. Here is a great guide on how to do just that.

Yes all of the PS3's plays PS1 games and who knows Sony might release an emulation program one day as a firmware update to make all PS2 games playable in any PS3

I'd just keep your PS2 if I were you unless you want to search for a backwards compatible model. And even if you found one, they'd probably run you a high price.

The 80 gig Sony PS3 supports PS2 games through software emulation. http://www.tech-faq.com/play-ps2-games-on-ps3.shtml is this true?, is there a free program that lets you play ps2 games?

remember buying new is buying new, you dont know what the other console has been through , and of all ps3's the ones with B/C have been the ones with technicall problems note this is not that common but just for u to know , and yes you can buy any ps3 and place a hard drive as big as your wallet can stand it , as big as 500 gb , and buying a 80 gb wouldnt be that smart since the price differece between 80 gb hdd and a 100+hd is little, and regarding wating for the price drop, well u could wait till june for E3 if it doesnt happen then buy it , in my opinion i wouldnt wait because its not certain, but if it comes u dont know if the console would be affected , like the difference betweenthe first ps3 and the last ps3s so far they removed, B/C usb slots , are u willing to wait i wouldnt
