I have my plasma on my bedroom wall and I ran all the wiring through the walls into my closet where I moved all the componants to. The PS3 is on the top of the rack and it's enclosed. I have an Onkyo TX-SR805 in the bottom which is generating a lot of heat and the PS3 generates a lot of heat as well. Since heat rises, it's getting awesfully hot at the top of the rack so I want to put an intercooler on the PS3 to help keep it cool.

That said, I've used one before and it was extremely loud. I want to get one that's relatively quiet without compromising its cooling ablilities.

Anyone have any good recommendations?

Most people on this forum will tell you not to get one, but I have hade a Pelican intercooler on my PS3 now for about 8 months and it works great!

EDIT: Stay away from the intercoolers that tap into the PS3's power. The Pelican intercooler has its own power supply and speeds up and slows down depending on how hot the air is coming out of the PS3.

I recommend that you stay away from cooling fans bc they can cause more harm than good. The ps3 has a pretty big fan that keeps it running cool. I've never heard of overheating problems so do yourself a favor and don't buy one.

the thing with most cooling systems for game consoles is that they dont help ventilate it, they just blow air INTO the ps3 itself, the hot air is already in the ps3, and thats what causes most system failures, blowing more air into the ps3 is not going to help, you need to find a system that gets the hot air OUT

Can't you un-enclose it?That's sure not a good set up cos you need enough air circulation around your PS3

As most people have been saying you don't need an intercooler just un-encase the PS3 and it will be fine. If you can't do that just watch the PS3. When it is getting too hot the red light will flash at you. When it is about to over heat it shuts itself off to avoid damage.

Better ventilation around the space of your PS3 is more essential than getting an intercooler fan.

If not, get an individual table fan and blow it onto your PS3.

NOT NEEDEDBHS_LineMen

Exactly. All the consoles (yes even the 360) have been designed with cooling that is sufficient. No need for a 3rd party one. If anything, its going to slow down the stock fans
